The new state of the art Indoor Sports Training Centre is being opened at Milber at one of Mike Batesons former double glazing factories on Tuesday. Complete with Astroturf and set to become a development centre for Plymouth Argyle FC. Could also be used by local schools and colleges. Has full changing and showering facilities.
The project managers are Debbie and Richard Hancox, Mike Batesons daughter and son in law. Debbie Hancox is apparently the Gulls former Managing Director according to the MDA and Richard is a former player who now manages Plymouth Argyles development centre in Exeter.. The first training session is hoped to be next Tuesday and the centre will open until 10pm each night.

While we did talk about it a while back, it was not known at that time if it would get the go ahead, so it seems it has and Richard will be working for father in law again. Still a bit disappointed its not linked to our club, but then not really surprised either.

Pity that the man couldn't have ear-marked some cash and premises to assist TUFC youth development in the surrounding towns as opposed to Torquay, but maybe there is a lot of water under the bridge, and perhaps many people wouldn't really want him back doing things for the club anyway.
It could still be a very useful venture for the town of Newton Abbot if no-one else for the future, so at least there's that silver lining.
Personally if there was to be any benefit to the local teams I would prefer it was for TUFC.
