Must confess I havn`t got a clue how we or any BSP clubs will do this season. We may have a stronger squad than last seaon but whether it will be sufficiently stronger to get a top 5 slot only time will tell.
I`m not concerned by the lack of goals or opposition so far. But if i do have a slight concern it would the lack of a starting 11 emerging. For me pre season is all about achieving fitness, organisation and confidence through practice. I`m sure fitness will be no problem. I am though a little concerned by the lack of a settled line up.
Tonight Hargreaves is out with a niggling back problem. Robertson out again. Johnson in on trial at CB which suggests PB is not settled on his CB pairing and cover. Hodges has gone to CM with no sign of Wroe starting. I think he has now played CM, LB, LM & CM which is all very good for cover but this is the time to gel pairings on the pitch. Up front no sign of Green.
Does anyone share my concern for our injury prone squad or for PB not having identified our starting 11?

Buster, I think all the players are good enough to play were they are asked, when the time comes. I can understand trying out players in different positions, but I would have thought, that we should have played, what was considered the starting 11, a few more times together.
Green is a worry, but still feel we have good cover all over the pitch and Benyon has proved again to night, that playing with Sills, he can score goals.

I`m not in any way questioning the ability of the squad. I`m sure they will compete to their best. Effort is one thing but organisation is another however. If you combine new players with a possible change in style of play do you not think we should have identified each players strongest position and kept them their? The likes of Hodges are known to have played in many positions so in my mind it serves no purpose trying them all over the place unless you havn`t decided where to play them.

Yes I did agree that Buckle should have played the players together more than he has, but having to play those three games last weekend, did not help that to happen.
I think we should have had two more games lined up before the start of the season, so that we could have played the starting 11 together a few more times.
Still we have to have trust in Buckle, he should have learned so much from last season.

I think you're showing concern over something that simply doesn't materialise in public at most clubs in the majority of close seasons. Pre-seasons just aren't like you imagine in the professional game Buster. You can bet your bottom dollar, Bucks has his starting line-up in his mind but what is far more important right now is knowing his alternatives should things not start according to plan. You can also take comfort in that the players will certainly be aware of the starting line-up before they set off for Histon next Friday and probably come Monday morning they will be made aware of it and the individual expectations they will undertake within that system. The most important thing in preparing a team of professionals is maintaining freshness and getting them to peak at the correct time. Part of that preparation and stimulus is setting them the individual challenge of playing differing roles (sometimes more than one per game) so that the multi week "grind" of pre-season doesn't lead to staleness and peaking too soon. As for "injury prone" tell me a club that doesn't suffer injuries at any time let alone pre-season, and I would also say that avoiding any injuries is of paramount importance when planning a pre-season. I would say OUR record at this time is as good as can reasonably hoped for. Should Histon, Woking and Crawley been fielding "settled lineups" during their pre-season; I'm sure Bucks will be at a huge advantage come next week!

Has anyone noticed the little mistake in the match report on .com?
3rd paragraph down... Tyrone's excrement flew over the bar from 25 yards out. ;-)

Aw come on you ruined the pun! It must have been a solid sort of diarrhoea shot, a right poo of an effort or merely a maired attempt that got dumped behind the goal....................there. Surely SOMETHING got through the "naughty" filter!

...................or maybe we could utilise his new found skill by putting him in the defensive wall when the opposition have a free kick, turn his back, drop his kacks and "fire a warning shi shot across their bows! In fact couldn't Woodsie be "re-trained" to do something like that and contribute something useful for to the effort? ;D

Of course the greatest exponent of this cunning trick was the great Brazilian DUNGa but when the legendary Pele was asked to comment on it's merits he merely pooh poohed the mnotion. You'll be relieved to learn I'll be off site now for a few hours as I'm off up the Arse!
