........Ah deep joy indeed here in Mr_W Towers again - I have just found out we will have again a Music Festival in Gosport this year about 100 yards and a good cider weave from my flat - a snip at a cost of just £1 this year - over the Aug Bank Holiday for three days - headliners - erm loosely speaking are T.Rex (the closest to an official one I think - www.t-rex.co.uk ) on the Fri, Chas (rabbit, rabbit, got my beer in the sideboard 'ere, I think you know the rest) Hodges and his outfit on the Sat and the "mighty" Toploader on the Sunday - OK I know its not exactly Glasto Pyramid stage material but hey, theres' Old Rosie "screech" on the scene so it ain't all bad - and plenty of local bands to check out as well - nice one indeed, and what with Old Rosie at 7.3%, (this IS bad stuff!!), I suspect there'll be plenty of "Dancing In The Moonlight" - just a pity its' not Thin Lizzy doing their "Dancing".............. ...........seriously not a bad Festival this at all, in the last few years we've had Slade (well two of 'em), Rose Royce, Chas and Dave, Nazareth, Amen Corner (of a sort), Deborah Bonhams' Band, various Abba, Bee Gees and Beatles tributes, Alan Price (without any Animals), Maggie Bell, "The" Three Degrees (although I suspect strongly they were actually the 23rd, 24th and 25th Degrees tbh), Boney m (this was just Boney or was it possibly m I think?), Geno Washington and Showaddywaddy (yes, with Romeo AND Dave) to name a few - all for free.............. .........for me, some highlights from this years Glasto I caught on telly - The Gaslight Anthem (as usual), U2, Elbow, Paul Simon, Janelle Monae (mad as a box of frogs), Noel Harrison doing "Windmills Of Your Mind" to name a few - and as usual, completely underwhelmed by Coldplay, and their infernal, angst-ridden, pappy doom-anthem-esque and shoegazey poppery not for me I fear - the only other big irritation of the weekend was that bleddy eejit Jo Wiley............. PS: .........on the off-chance anyone is interested in purchasing the long-forgotten warblings of giant mouse-like creatures who wielded all manner of musical instruments and collected litter, the Wombles have re-released their back catalogue of albums - shurely shume mishtake? - all together now join in with Mr_Chelstongull and I, "Underground, overground, wombling free........." PPS: .......a couple of beauts on Radio 2 this weekend, on Fri night 2000 "Friday Night Is Music Night", a special featuring the music of the late John Barry (TV theme etc composer) and on Sunday aft 1500, Johnnie Walker with the mighty, incredibly talented song writer and performer Randy Edelman.......... .....currently on Radio 6 music...... Time Is Everything - Ian ("I'm always not QUITE in tune") Brown Drinking In LA - Bran Van 3000 Surrender - The Urban Myth Club

........"Marlene" - Barclay James Harvest - as far as I'm concerned, one of THE finest of the "Proggy" bands to come out of this Isle from back in the 70s, this is gorgeous, with an excellent outro guitar solo - fantakkers to the nth degree - off the album "Revolution Days" - check 'em out gang, they were fab............
