Well without even a ball kicked in our new season, it seems TUFC are already being tipped to win the league.
While it shows that due to all the new players, it must look on paper, we could walk this division, I do wonder, if being favorites would help us.
I feel it just gives too much level of expectation, from the fans and even some pressure on the players. Still it all does look good for the season and I know we would all be happy if we romped home as the favorites we are.

I certainly dont think we will walk it as Wrexham, Oxford, Stevenage, Rushden and other's could all be very formiddible outfits. We look like we have great strength and depth though and we know we have a big chance. I dont think the players will be too affected by what is being said about our chances.

I don't think we will walk away myself. My point really is that many fans will see that people see us the favorites and may just expect too much.
We all know some can change from being so positive, to slagging the team and club off, if results start going the wrong way. Thats why I don't think being seem as favorites is a good thing, far better to be a dark horse coming up from the rear. Merse knows all about dark horses coming up from the rear don't you merse ;D

Merse knows all about dark horses coming up from the rear don't you merse ;D I do enjoy a dark horse coming up from the rear, yes Dave............as long as my money's on it. Green Manalishi in the City Walls Stakes at Chester came with a great late run to steal it on the line and I was in seventh heaven as he single handedly paid for our Saturday at the races last weekend! On the TU front, I'm happy in the knowledge that we enter this season at least on an equal footing with our major rivals and that's more than our club could really claim in the recent past isn't it. I'm not expecting any better than that, hoping yes; expecting - no. We cannot expect until we see how the start of the season pans out - how will Stevenage go now they're rid of that hopeless "mis-manager" Peter Taylor (I'll give him till Christmas at Wycombe) Graham Westley knows what it takes that's for sure, but can he put it into practice? Time will tell. How will Garry Hill who has been there, done it and wears the tee shirt, manage now he has his R&D squad on an equal footing? What about novice manager Garry Brabin and the re-constructed Cambridge, how will Brian Little and the wreckage of Wrexham fare, or the chaos that is Mansfield survive under Billy McEwen? Nigel Clough is by far the most BSP experienced manager out there and his Burton teams always produce a big threat and there are bound to be a couple of dark horses or two, So you see, to expect is foolish but to hope is perfectly reasonable in my view. I haven't been this excited and expectant for a season's prospects for a long long time as I just love a properly competitive league and I truly believe that of all the five most "senior" leagues in this country, we are playing in the one with the most teams in with a decent chance of winning it.
