Sometimes I get really lucky at work and today was one such day. I was despatched to Arsenal FC to pick up the Iranian National Football Coach Afshin Ghotbi who proved fascinating to listen to in an all too short a journey back to his London hotel. When I told him that I had seen one of his predecessors at Plainmoor only last Saturday he was astonished to learn of the whereabouts of Frank O'Farrell. He also told me of his time as a young player at the LA Aztecs and being coached by Johann Cruyff, his work as Assistant to both Dick Advocaat and Guus Hiddinck and the Korean World Cup campaigns and also of his time managing Iran's "Man Utd" ~ Persopolis FC who regularly get gates of over 100,00 for league games! If you want to learn more of Afshin Ghotbi, just "Google" him, it's an eye opener!
