Remember the Errea SW Cup which we contested in North Devon this time last year? Well, I see this year's competition - expanded from last year with a decent array of teams - has hit problems after a relatively smooth start. Firstly, the weather caused problems on Friday leading to two games being cancelled and the respective group leaders qualifying for the semi-finals without the group stages being completed. Now, with a Grimsby v Luton final planned for today at Bideford, the two clubs have apparently failed to agree a kick-off time in light of the need for policing given Grimsby manager Mike Newell's history at Luton. Grimsby have withdrawn and have been replaced by Royal Racing FC Montegnee of Belgium who lost both group games and failed to qualify for the semi-finals. Perhaps everybody has buggered off home? It does seem that clubs are happy to play the group stages but are less-arsed when it comes to the semi-finals and finals. Clearly too many clubs means too many games in too short a time... Here we go again with Luton Town...................surely the most unpopular club in football. They don't like Newell because he drew attention to what they were ~ a bunch of fiddling and hypocritical bastards who got what was coming to them. Ever since they gleefully embraced Thatcherism and made their ground unwelcome to visitors (shamefully aped by Lew Pope in one of his drunken stupours I'm sorry to say) and when they were forced to let away fans in got it smashed to bits by Millwall's baboons.......oh how we laughed ...............they have been the lepers of football as far as I'm concerned. The town's a dump, the ground's a slum and now their "fans" reckon they're going to ride roughshod over "non league" I suppose...................may they rot down there longer than poxy Oxford!

and when they were forced to let away fans in got it smashed to bits by Millwall's baboons. Didn't that happen the other way around, merse? ie: wasn't that the reason they banned away fans? You forgot to mention the plastic pitch nonsense as well. When that phase spread to the first League/Cup double Proud Preston I feared for the future of bounce bounce football. It was good to be there when they finally ripped their's up, albeit that we missed out on a Wembley trip that evening.

No Rob, I said they made them "unwelcome". In the instance of Millwall they had tried to ban them but where forced by the authorities to afford them the same facilities as other away fans were getting at the time. It was indeed after that they were allowed to get away with the wholly unethical "members only" nonsense. I recall there was a general rejoicing amongst London football fans when they got their stupid ground smashed to bits................everybody was heartily sick of David Evans, Luton Town, Colin Moynihan and the Bastard Thatcher by then.
