Don't know anything about cricket and sure don't understand how it is played, but I am looking forward to our first Ashes pictures on the forum, come to think about it, they will be our fist ever cricket pictures. Ahem. Look on the London Picture Thread Dave!! Correction it will be our second cricket photos the first ones being taken at the Oval of a 20/20 game between Surrey and Kent. But it will be our first Ashes ;D

But it will be our first Ashes ;D I did take a fair few at the Northamptonshire V Australia tour match as well last month but I never posted them. I'm looking forward to see Andy's ones as well. What a day's cricket we've had today. Broad looks a different bowler when he pitches it up! I'm in complete agreement with Andy about Hauritz. But if England had any inkling about the pitch they would've picked Panesar as well as Swann! Jonathan Trott looks like a decent player. He bats like he wants to build an innings. Very refreshing in this 20/20 throw the bat at everything world we now live in.

I saw one terrible descision where the Aussie batsman missed the ball by about nine inches with his bat and was given out, caught! Very good standard of umpiring (not!) and the idiot in white with his stupid bent finger does my head right in, I think the umpiring has been awefull for both sides so I`m not using it as an excuse, just not good to see at all! Stuart Broad should be Australian the way he is bowling, tell you what you`ve got one for the future there boys and girls, lets see how day three goes, what have the groundsman done to the wicket this time, how is it so dry with all the rain we`ve had lately, bet they`ve been out watering it last night so the Pommies can bat on it this morning and it will dry up as the day goes on so when we have to bat it will be absolute pants again, should move it to Hampshire and call it THE DUSTBOWL!

Time for the aussie to bring on their special weapon. only problem is the ball won't run so true at plainmoor today during the second half, too many divots you understand.

I can actually play cricket to a decent level mate, you still need to work on your `cut and paste` a bit Dave, good effort though!

Anybody seen our friend from down under??? Aussie--I have to say I have enjoyed the last few weeks banter. However no p### taking today just admiration for the sporting way your guys behaved at the end of todays action. They acted with such dignity and grace during the presentations which must have been real difficult. Thanks for the chat these last few weeks and now onto the one days!!!

I was impressed by the all round respect and congatulatory attitude of the young Aussie side as they acknowledged the English victory. Good too, to see the English fans finally acknowledge the gritty determination and never say die attitude of Rick Ponting............a captain in the true Aussie mold. Whatever the sport, the Aussie makes the most brilliant sporting rival and one we just love to beat.........................can you imagine for one moment being able to wind down and socialise with the bloody Germans, or Argentinians after a football match in the way that we all know we can with the Bruces and Shielas. Not the greatest fan of cricket any more, but the Ashes is the Real Deal as far as I'm concerned and I say "Bring it on again in two years time!" Keep yer pecker up Aussie, at least you came second ~ and my missus just loves me for doing that! ;D

My pecker and your missus should never be used in the same sentence Merse! ;D Nice words apart from that, cheers and by the way I feel it`s the best sporting rivalry in any sport because like you say we can enjoy the afters together unlike any other pair of nations! Graystar I like the attitude mate but I think your dreaming!
