I see we are still the team that Setanta wants to show if the early selections for their live games is anything to go by. Of our first 14 games, 4 are now selected for live coverage and the latest two involve them being moved from Tuesday to Thursday slots............... Mon Aug 18th: Ebbsfleet (H) Thur Aug 28th: York (H) Thur Sep 4th: Kidderminster (A) Thur Oct 9th: Oxford (H) As the two later ones involve playing again 48 hours later, I would expect the home game with Northwich to be put back to Sunday Sep 7th and the away game to Rushden & Diamonds to Sunday October 12th - especially as this one clashes with an England game with mighty Kazakstan - and the FA wouldn't want to lose potential speccies to a block buster like ours just an hour from Wembley! A little more TV income and we'll soon have enough in the pot to underwrite Pokie's wage demands!

Even before a ball is kicked, in the new season, it seems the nearly released fixture list, is already being changed. Firstly thanks JimD, for being on the ball himself and making the changes on our calendar.
I do really believe that the two games moved from a Tuesday night, to the Thursday night, will not have to much impact on the gate. It is true some will fans who may have gone, will choose to watch it at home on the TV, or maybe in a pub. It could be the case, that the club, may come out of the two games, slightly better off than they would have.
It must be frustrating for those who have to plan travel etc and there will be some, who maybe could not be able to get there on Tuesday, but could on a Thursday, who will be happy. That works both ways and some may not be able to make the game because it has been moved.
If the Saturday games are moved, this also will affect fans in different ways, yes some would want to watch the England game , seeing that it is a World Cup Qualifier and therefore, may not have gone to Torquays game.
While many who would travel to Torquay on a Saturday, would not on a Sunday, due to the fact they have work on a Monday.Plus for many, Sunday really is a family day and the family as a whole may not be fans of football.
I do wonder how the team, will play in front of the cameras this season. My view is that we looked a very poor side in many of the games that were shown. Part of that reason was down to the style of football that P. Buckle had the team playing.
I do find it strange, that players, given the chance to perform on TV, where they could really show their football skills and ability, often fail to do that, often looking half the player, you may have watched only the week before at a home game.
I really hope, that with the change of style we seem that we will be playing, our team will not only look good on the TV, but get the results and really show, that teams in the BSP can really play the game of football, the way it was meant to be played.

I have no real problem with Setanta moving midweek fixtures to another night in the week IE Thursday's. The obvious knock on effect mean that clubs who play on the Thursday will have to move their Saturday game to Sunday. The big bone of contention for me is the moving of Saturday games to midweek. Personally, home matches ( as I live in the Bay) are not so much a problem, but with most people working in the week, it does cut down away (although minimal in the BSP) support and makes it difficult for exiles to get to Plainmoor and therefore greatly reduces the gate. (Atmosphere, etc)
Away games are worse, there was a pretty poor turnout at Burton last season and with the cameras also at Weymouth there was only around 600 travelling Gulls at the game. Admittedly the following at York for the much changed Sunday night League fixture was admirable. It would be nice if Setanta just changed the midweek fixtures around and then whoever is involved to play the following Sunday. At least it would keep more weekend games.
As far as England matches clashing, I think these League games should always be moved so that everyone has the opportunity to watch the National team. There are only two games that apply this season. I would expect the home game with Northwich to stay as it is ( England's game versus Andorra will probably be an evening kick off) and the game at Rushden to be moved in some way. (Probably Sunday)

Well I think the boring, underachieving prima donnas should play their games on a Wednesday afternoon like they did forty odd years ago and let proper football get on with it's life without interference. After all, everyone except me has some means of recording telly programmes these days so they can watch it when they get home from work if they really want to, and I couldn't give a toss about England anyway. Anyone who really feels the need to put themselves up for mass exploitation has to devote a full day to getting to an evening game at Wembley anyhow - even if you only have to struggle ten miles from N7 to get there, so an afternoon kick off would be less inconvenient. Just listening to that silly three tune ruddy band gives me the heeby jeebys, and as for all those empty seats for the first fifteen minutes of the second half...............well that really get on my Bristols!!!!
