Has anybody watched any football in Australia? Here's a game I saw in Melbourne in 1995 which may interest one or two people on this site:

I know a bloke who reckons he used to be the agent for Knights' number 9- it could be bullsh*t though.

Watched any, mate I played for Springvale City, but when I was playing the game was made up of ageing pro`s mainly from the U.K. and a shit load of immagrants, teams were very ethnically bias i.e. Melbourne Croatia, South Melbourne Hellas, it doesn`t take a genius to work out that Melbourne was made up of mainly Croats and South Melbourne were maily Greek, Springvale were mainly U.K. As you can imagine there was a lot of trouble when certain teams played each other, we played an Argintine based team just after the Faulklands war in a cup game and it went right off, yes we won, the game didn`t even start, the ref legged it and called the police, lots of us had to go up in front of the V.S.F. both clubs got bans!

Springvale City sounds straight off the summer pools coupon....not too far from Sandown Park according to my Gregory's street directory.
The Croatian Ustashe graffiti was a bit worrying when I visited Sunshine North to see the Knights. By contrast, the pictures of the Stirling Macedonian Cricket Club were far more welcoming when I saw a match in Perth.
Jon noticed Mark Viduka in that 1995 game. Amazingly I next saw him play two years later in Zagreb against Newcastle United. What a night!

Thats correct Barton, Ross Reserve is just down the road from Sandown Race Track and we were on the summer pools last time I looked, we had dropped down a couple of divisions though.
