Always a bit of a lottery trying to pick winners here but going to go for Exotic dancer over Denman this afternoon.
As for the national I think its between State of Play and Black Apalachi, each way bet: Offshore Account.
Any other tips.....?

Black Apalachi for me too - might be carrying a bit too much weight but if it jumps I can see it being there with a chance come the finish.
Wish I'd have seen this thread earlier as I've had 4 out of the first 5 at Aintree. I fancied Mighty Man to beat Big Bucks in the first (wrong there then!), got a bit lucky with Denman falling although I'm not convinced he was going that well, backed Walkon and Oh Crick at Cheltenham and saw no reason to desert them and Trust Fund was picked as he'd stay further and the amateurs always go too fast...
Planet of Sound in the 1655 and Big Eared Fran in the last to finish of the day.

Himalayan Trail for me - a real dark horse, although one with plenty of talent based on his Midlands National romp last year. And Maljimar for the local(ish) trainer Nick Williams if it gets into the field - currently first reserve so needs one non runner.

Big Fella Thanks for me.
Ruby chosen the wrong one as I don't see My Will staying.
Also a more than able deputy in Christian Williams, who deserves a big day at some stage after some of his horrendous injuries over these last couple of years.

......................and for my money too, also for the same reasons as Chas ~ just hope I've got enough money left on Saturday to have a little wager!

......................and for my money too, also for the same reasons as Chas ~ just hope I've got enough money left on Saturday to have a little wager! Oh poo (or other words of that ilk) - that means it's screwed if the both of us are on! But luckily for me, I hit the placepot (£79) and had two nice winners in Madison du Berlais and Tartak today so my week is covered! Such a shame to see Exotic Dancer perish as well today, sadly of a heart attack well over an hour after what turned out to be his last race. He was one of my Placepot bankers today as well, so thanks from me to the old guy now in his stable in the sky.

I'll go right now and get out my tie (lilac and pink chequered) in the colours of his owner Sir Robert Ogden and wear it today...................a man who naturally fascinates me ~ what with being a one eyed octegenarian who always seems to have a bit of young totty on his arm! I've heard people say it's the money he has, but from personal experience I could suggest it's really more than that!

There's an old fella that drinks in my local who used to be a stable lad for some of Mr Ogden's horses - never has a bad word to say about him - everyone always got a nice little bonus if he had a winner and there was none of the snootiness that you might expect between owner and stable staff.
Himalayan Trail is certainly interesting at the weights - had a couple of preps over hurdles. Am I right in thinking the ground at Uttoxeter when he won the Midlands National was a bit softer than he'll get on Saturday?
Echo the thoughts on Exotic Dancer - a horse that without Kauto Star would have been a huge star. Great to see him finally break his Grade 1 duck at Leopardstown.
As for today - Karabak looks the proverbial good thing and I also fancy a bit e/w on Giles Cross - Vic Dartnall doesn't send one horse all that way for no apparent reason.

Am I right in thinking the ground at Uttoxeter when he won the Midlands National was a bit softer than he'll get on Saturday? It was good to soft ground, and a little tacky, but it seems the going at Aintree will be fairly similar and maybe just only a little quicker. I was more interested in the comments the trainer made in a PA interview earlier in the week about preferring better ground and throwing out any form he had on heavy. Not saying he has a leading chance, because that is impossible in such a race as the National - just looking for a run for my fiver! And sadly for me, Maljimar didn't get in as the original 40 runners all stand their ground. Thanks to Bet365 for their non-runner no-bet concession I can move that fiver somewhere else now.

I'm backing the field as usual, though i still won't win! Butlers Cabin to win, Darkness and Battlecry for places.
Grabbed State of Play from the sweepstake at work, which stands a chance too.
