I used to go on a Monday night with my Dad to watch Exeter Falcons Speedway.
we had a great time but what a shame they aren't there anymore.
I watched greats like Ivan Mauger (6 times world champ) and many other visiting stars. the smell and thrill still lives with me today.
does anyone else have any memories or know what is happening with them these days?

I spoke to the announcer (Nigel) who I know from being the motor trade last year and he said hopefully the team should be up and running this year at Haldon Racecourse. Apparantly they have got the ok to build a track there, but I haven`t heard any more news.

I believe there have been one or two problems over the new track at Haldon and they're now talking about 2010.

Apparently they have got the ok to build a track there, but I haven`t heard any more news. thanks but it won't compare to the old County Ground The only trouble with the county ground was that a lot of riders from other teams did not like the track(especially the banking) including top stars(wimps). This led to a lot of one sided matches,I always preferred closely fought matches as long as Exeter won. Of course, there many exciting meetings. Carl Stonehewer was one of the top riders who did not try to race. He rode for Workington when he was one of the top riders in the world. On his first visit a large crowd turned up to see him,but was a big disappointment because he did not try at all and was subsequently booed and jeered at. This happened on all his visits.
