...i had already bet with my friends that Jenson Button - over the first 3 races will do better than Lewis...in fact i think he will win the first race. So it is nice to see bookies have Button as fave for sunday.
Button in the Brawn GP - formerlly and still sort of, Honda and Barrichello are way in front of the pack at mo and Lewis is strugglinbg
Bring on the weekend!!!

Bernie Eccleston said on the radio at the weekend that you shouldn't read too much into teams form at this stage, he fully expects it to be the usual suspects at the front come race day!
I would guess that the likes of McLaren and Ferrari don't like to "show their hand" too early and tip off the opposition to how well they are running. Whereas Brawn, being a "new" team, are eager to impress in order to attract more sponsorship.
Hope I am wrong though, it would be great if Jenson could have a car underneath him that is worthy of his talents.
Apparently, the beeb are showing all the pre-practice sessions on Thursday and Friday live (via the red button) as well as qualifying and the race itself.

...Massa has stated today that Brawn GP are Ferrari's threat this season and not McLaren, it should be interesting to see how this goes this season...
I usually listen to the three practice sessions on 5Live and i was sure that they were putting that on the red button but if it is pictures even better

I tell you something if this is how the BBC are treating the F1 then this is brilliant. I have discovered this on the bbc red button (301 on freeview)
they are showing extended highlights of the best australian races.....
of course it is on a rolling coverage on the red button so i will put the times of each one so you can work out when to come back and watch if you do not want to watch it all, remember up until about 8 years ago Australia was the LAST race of the season
1986 : Mansell goes for title and his tyre massively explodes ("and look at that" - Murray Walker) - 40 minutes
1991 : Torrentail weather sees the race red flagged with cars going off all over - 5 Minutes
1994 : Hill and Schumacher go for the title and Schumi the cheating bast@@@ cuts across so Damon cannot win the title - 50 Minutes
1996 : Hill wins in australia in a good battle with Jacques Villenueve/ Martin Brundle survives attrocious crash - app 15 Mins
2007 : Lewis comes third in his first ever race - 15 Mins
Reading the coverage link you posted it is brilliant news that the BBC red button IS SHOWING the the two free practice sessions on friday and the pre qualifying free practice session on Saturday.
I did enjoy the ITV coverage when they finally got ity right after about 5 years apart for ad breaks but if this is how the BBC is treating the F1 fan then i have to say this is brilliant news.
For any F1 fan or just curious then i urge you to press the red button.

As no-one else seems interested in this thread Brett, I'd thought I'd join you on it. You remind me of Father Jack in the way you witter on oblivious to the current subjects up for discussion on the Forum with your own little subject and no matter what is happening you pop back on with your F1 observations to which no-one responds, then you go back to sleep only to wake up later shouting "racing cars!"I envy you though, you must be the only one on here not suffering the frustrations of being a Torquay United supporter at the moment...................see you at Brands Hatch Salisbury maybe! ;D

....ah believe me Merse i am suffering as much as the next man - that is the life of a tufc supporter!!! Well as long as i am happy with my regualr updates all is good lololol
It is true i have been taking a back seat for a while as i have not been too well and do not come on as much. Next season i will get back to regular updates on my Grounds page......
...anyway continuing my oblivious nature : seems Brawn GP MAY have an illegal part making them go faster....with the new rulings it is not as simple as black and white...

Nobody else seemed to be joining in and I felt bad---now Merse is joining on this thread we could really get some good technical banter ;D Girls!! Sex!! fake!! ;D I envy you though, you must be the only one on here not suffering the frustrations of being a Torquay United supporter at the moment...................see you at Brands Hatch Salisbury maybe! ;D

think I pushed the wrong button last time.
I have to agree with Merse about this thread and was wondering if wires had been crossed with Murray Walker Forum.
Delighted that Merse is now joining in and hope we get some real technical speak now ;D

Well that was gash, and its my home town. I have now gone off formula 1 for a while, the cars look silly, the racing wasn`t wonderful and it has all changed too much in one off season. Think I`ll be watching Moto GP. See how the Rossi-Stoner dual plays out!

Only just spotted this thread - makes a change from footy!
Thought it was quite refreshing to see the usually dominant teams struggle so much this weekend. The result emphasises the importance of a competitive car I have always believed that its roughly 80% car 20% driver ability though certain genius drivers can get more out of poorer equipment. Always thought Button was a very good driver, very smooth and rarely erratic. Still another Brit and fundamentally British team in pole position after the first race though I expect that the likes of Mclaren and Ferrari will be doing all they can to catch the rookies. Funny that they seem also to have missed a trick with the aerodynamics, a very unusual state of affairs and I expect them to push the authorities on the Brawn's legality which would be an awful shame if it was upheld. A good competitive race though and also impressed with Hamiltons climb through the field - very patient and rewarded with an unexpected third place. The coming weeks will be very intriguing indeed . Must also add BBC'S coverage was excellent and great to watch minus that annoying ITV burst of music and the adds at crucial points in the race.
