The whole thing was a joke. If people want to have big money competitions then fair enough, but the way it was organised was ridiculous.
£500,000 each for the 11 in the team and around £50,000 each for the remainder of the squad. What a great way to destroy morale and cause in-fighting!
I don't know. Part of me thinks that cricketers work just as hard (if not harder) than, say, pro footballers, golfers and tennis players yet they earn a lot less over the course of their careers. The other part of me thinks that this whole Series made the England players look greedy and desperate.
They were pretty nervous though, which showed as they struggled to get to 100.

So the captain says the "players were not focussed"...............well with the ruddy wives and girl friends along, surprise surprise. When did all this namby pamby nonsense start? Football, rugby cricket; it matters not - to succeed one needs one hundred per cent focus one hundred per cent of the time. Fabio Capello has shown that with an Italian approach to the matter which has been in situ for as long as I can remember, those who cannot hack it can feck off and leave the task to those who can and will. That, and only that is the way to actually winning things; and any squad in any sport that does not clearly display that commitment gets no interest, no sympathy nor any support from me!
