After our great win against Altrincham, we need to get another good win and hope it will start off a good run that will see us cement a play-off place. I really can't see Bucks making to many changes for this game, Robertson has done well and deserves to start, but if he does it would be hard on Hodges who has played so well this season for us. Hodges is a good older pro and will know the team always has to come first and will wait his turn to get back into the team.
Having struggled for goals and then getting three in our last game(they all went in ;D) I would expect to see Sills and Benyon start up front together again, I know some where unhappy that Benyon was taken off near the end, but could it have been to rest him as he has not played that much, so he will be OK for Saturday? or was Bucks making a point to Green? who knows but lets hope he carries on where he left of in the last game.
When is Wroe coming back? if its later in the week Bucks will have to see how tired he is and may need to make a change in midfield, but I would expect Wroe will be fit and ready to start the game. If I had to make one change it would be Dsane, I know Carlisle was a bit guilty of not missing the first man on some of his crosses, but I felt the rest of his game was very good and one of his better ones for the team.
Not good on predictions, thats why I'm out of the cup and not top of the league on here, but I'll go with two goal to one for us.

Having struggled for goals and then getting three in our last game(they all went in ;D) I would expect to see Sills and Benyon start up front together again, This will be a very hard task and a really physical encounter and for that reason maybe the manager will replace Hargreaves with Hodges in the midfield role that the skipper usually plays and it wouldn't surprise me to see Thompson play in the link role between either Sills alone up front and Christie coming on with half an hour to go should Sills be feeling the pace on that heavy old pitch of theirs. I'm sure Wroe will play, although the sunshine of Malta to the bitter climate of the East Midlands will be a bit of a culture shock for the lad! I think Robertson WILL therefore hold his place and I hope we include Benyon AND Green on the bench as impact subs. From my point of view retaining quality possession will be the key to this one and for that reason I would not start Benyon who has yet to show that quality away from home.

yes I think you may be right about Benyon Merse, I was forgetting the physical side of Ketterings game, don't think you called it correct on Hargreaves as he is a sure starter, while playing Thompson in the hole behind has worked in may away games, if Benyon does not start, then I really see Bucks playing Christie with Sills as the man is strong and will win his battles against the Kettering defenders.

Back in Lancashire after one of my occasional visits 'home'. I thought Benyon was excellent on Sat and Roe's passing was brilliant when the game opened up in the last half hour. Nico is playing well too, if you ask me. How many balls does that guy win in the air, which you wouldn't necessarily expect. I usually stand in the enclosure but might have to take a risk on the pop-side if that pillock in the main stand doesn't give over shouting 'get him off' as soon as the game kicks off, usually about Carlisle or Dsane - just who does he think he's helping ? I loved the way the pop-side applauded Doughty's goal - the guy clearly appreciated it. I would much rather have seen Green coming off the bench instead of Christie. It would have been more forward-looking in the short and long term if you ask me. Nothing against Christie but haven't we tried and failed with the 'old war-horse' approach before ( a la Paul Smith, Gary Brabin et al). What's gone wrong with Green, a clearly skilful striker who gave problems to two championship defences ? Anyway I hope Christie proves me wrong.

The visits to Kettering and Oxford will be my sixth and seventh matches of the season. It's going to be a tough week that involves an odd combination of two rivals in the hunt for a playoff place and the visit of a team battling for their BSP lives. I'm sure the Forest Green and Oxford matches will be in Buckle's mind when he's making his team selection. I'd go with the following: Bevon
Mansell Woods Robertson Nicholson
Carlisle Hodges Wroe Carayol
Benyon Sills Ideally, we'd take the game to Kettering straight from the off, encouraging Carlisle and Carayol to take on the full-backs. In what I'm sure will be a scrappy game, I'll happily take a gritty 1-0.

It will be interesting to see how the team lines up come Saturday with a big shaggy hole to fill in the centre of the park. ;D My initial thought would be to put Thompson there to carry out that tough tackling, ball winning role and is in his favoured position. Hodges certainly could play there but would be the first time this season (apart from one of the pre-season games maybe?) and have a feeling he may be back in defence as his stint on the bench was put down to tactical reasons I think Benyon would be very unlucky to drop to the bench after last Saturday but his pace would certainly cause problems for the last 30 minutes. For a physical away match, I believe that Bucks will keep Dsane on the wing as opposed to Carayol or Stevens.

I see that Wood is now injured as well! Certainly not a disaster with Ellis and Hodges able to slot in besides Robertson. However, this will probably mean that Hodges will now play in defence to add to that all important experience. Would expect something like:
Bevan
Mansell, Robertson, Hodges, Nicholson
Carlisle, Wroe, Thompson Dsane
Sills, Benyon
Subs: Ellis, Adams, Carayol, Christie and Stevens/Green

I do rate Ellis but the times he and Robertson have played together I have been left unconvinced. The centre back partnership definately needs some experience in there. Think I would also go for Adams in centre midfield over Thompson, just feel he has more passing and tackling ability than Thompson.
Bevan Mansell Robertson Hodges Nicholson
Carlise Adams Wroe Dsane
Sills Benyon
Subs: Thompson, Carayol, Stevens, Green and Christie.

Adams in centre midfield over Thompson, just feel he has more passing and tackling ability than Thompson. Am with you on "passing" ability. But Adams with more "tackling" ability than Thompson !

With such a big lumbering defence, surely the stage is set for Matt Green's pace to get in behind them, perhaps allied to Caryol's wingplay to lure in a match-changing red card from one of the full-backs. You know it makes sense ?

I am receiving texts and emails from so called Kettering supporters, those that have sprung out of the woodwork this season about this game.
Kettering is about two miles away from us and is the side I dislike as much as Exeter.
Many locals know of my support for Torquay so for much of this season I have had the usual comments of just wait until we play you!
Although I haven't seen them play there are as already been noted a very physical side with a solid defence, they are going to be very difficult to beat and with games in hand are expected to make the play offs by their supporters.
Talking of their supporters their are some 'nutters' among them, as I usually say many humped backed with six fingers on each hand, but there again I am prejudiced.
The away end is very primitive, a bit like York only not as good!
If anyone is driving up the A43 from Northampton to Kettering it has been closed for the past few weekends due to resurfacing work. Parking is very much in the streets, altough the Coop superstore is nearby. I never go in any pubs nearby so cannot comment on them.
It is going to be a very nervy afternoon and we will have to be on top form to get a result.
It could well be that Green will be influential if he gets a start.

If anyone is driving up the A43 from Northampton to Kettering it has been closed for the past few weekends due to resurfacing work. Before you go and confuse everyone with "misinformation" don't you mean the A4300 where it crosses the A6003 in town by the hospital? There is absolutely NO information on the accepted motoring sites relating to any closure of the A43 between Northampton and Kettering. The fastest route from the M1 (junct 15) is via the A508 to it's junction with the A45 on the Northampton By Pass and then taking the Wellinborough direction as far as the junction with the A43 (sp Kettering) following that road to junct 8 of the A14 which needs to be followed to junct 7 (sp direction "Midlands") Northbound and leaving on the A43 (again!) to the roundabout with the A6003 (sp Kettering) to pass the ground. That avoids as much of urban Kettering as possible.
