I have put this thread up before we have played our FA cup game on Saturday, because this game comes so soon afterward.
Due to Burton having a run of 11 straight wins and unbeaten in 19 games, we find ourselves 16 points behind them. We do have two games in hand, plus we have to play them both away on Tuesday night and home at the end of the season.
Is this our first real must win game? well a win could halt Burton's great run and could even knock them of coarse a bit, teams losing any game after a long run, can then lose a few more. Not that I think that is what will happen, but we need to go and play for the win and not a draw.
All runs come to an end, so I see no reason why we could not be the team to end Burton's, so I'll go with a one nil win to us.

Any win would do for me Dave. Burton are on a excellent run and riding full of confidence. We'll have to be at our very best to beat them.
16 points is a very big gap and it will almost need a miracle to overcome that gap (we won't win all of our games thats for sure). Clough's been building at Burton for years, they've given him time and it looks like he's repaying them this season.

First things first................. or should I say "thirst things first"? Burton On Trent being the brewing capital of this fair land it would be a shame to visit and not partake of the local brewing skills in the very best of hostelries. So I have no hesitation in recommending Ye Olde Dog & Partridge in the village of Tutbury just five miles North East of BoT. Situated on the A511 which links the A38 with the A50,Tutbury is an atmospheric little place complete with ghostly ruined castle upon it's mound and right on the High Street (DE14 1HA)is this wonderful pub (look for the traditional Staffordshire black & white timbered frontage) where you can consume really excellent food without breaking the bank washed down with the finest local brews. Unfortunately time restraints will probably cost me and my pals the chance on this occasion (we depart West London at 3pm) but previous visits en route to and from other Gulls travels and racing trips to nearby Uttoxeter have always been a highlight of the day. Allow yourself around 20minutes to drive to the Pirelli Stadium and time your visit accordingly..................although do check for yourself ( 01283 813030) that they're intending to be open on a January midweek afternoon!

You see Merse, you don't need to have the ground right next to a local pub, after all ;D can't you leave a bit earlier and take a camera, so you can get some shots of the castle for our castle thread running in the forum photo gallery.

If only.....................although I'm taking the next 12 days off (it's the ruddy"kipper"season not much work about), a couple of the lads who are travelling will be required to put a shift in beforehand. We still have one seat vacant in the seven seater, departing North London around 2.30pm and Western Ave (A40) app 3pm if there is anyone out there who wants to fill it. Confirmed intrepid CG travellers so far............... Merse (driving) , Pikey (TB1 ) & definitely NOT navigating! , CapitalGull (Miss Jones) , Kipper (MBE) , Ross (Scoop) Kaniuk and Ealinggull (Alex Ilyitch Lenin) Anyone want the last seat, PM me ASAP - interests in anal breathing and the merits of the nicely expanding figure of Ruby Turner as she approaches her fiftieth birthday, an advantage!

Our local long range forecast for East Midlands on Tuesday night is minus 5 celcius so will be checking whether match is on or not before leaving.
Really looking forward to this game as Burton appear to be doing an Aldershot and racing away with the League. I wonder how good they are. Last season I thought they were the best team I saw in the BSP.

A bit worried about the fact that we will have bust a gut to beat Blackpool on Sat and Burton won't have played since Thursday ! They are fit pro players Pete, not your Newton Spurs types they should be able to play two games close to each other and also be up for both games.

Just bumped into Chelston in m&S.
We have decided not to implement our "Big Crowd Contingency Plan" of bagging a place on the halfway line.
We will stick with our quarter way, change ends at half time routine.
COME ON YOU YELLOWS!

If the match is on, then should be a cracking game with both sides now full of confidence. I certainly haven't given up hope of the championship yet but that hope could extinguish with a loss in this match! Barring injury, I can't see any starting eleven deviating from the Blackpool line up. We ended Histon's unbeaten run, no reason why we can't do the same to Burton!

Does Sills' suspension cover the Burton game or not? Apologies if this has been posted on another thread!
