David Graham's Eighth Pint I did not explain in my post to Chris Hayes what I meant very well, the commentator on the radio said the ball had gone into the balcony and he said it was a first for him seeing that. I had got a picture in my head of them being up high and looking over the roof of a stand and that there was a road and the flats were on the other side of the road. So seeing the pictures ruined the one I had in my head, they did say later in the game it looked like someone had gone and got it back, but the other guy sad that he thought it was on ebay by now

Great shots Chris.
I want to get into digital pics. Can you recommend a decent camera with a decent lens? price bracket about £500 or am I way short of the mark?

Great shots Chris. I want to get into digital pics. Can you recommend a decent camera with a decent lens? price bracket about £500 or am I way short of the mark? It depends what you want from a digital camera. You don't have to spend that much if you don't want to! I've got a Super Zoom (15x zoom with 8.1 Megapixel resolution) Digital non SLR which about 2 years old and costs about £200. Its very light and quite compact but it allows you to take pretty nice shots. Here's the link.... www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/sony-dsc-h7.cfmIts quite a nice introduction into Digital photography, it has automatic settings but it also has some manual features when you get a bit more confident using it. Its all in one so you can't buy extra lenses for it. Other models similar to mine are things like the Nikon Coolpix P80 with is around the same price and has 10 megapixel resolution and 18x zoom. www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/nikon-coolpix-p80.cfmThe next one up is the Nikon P90 which is about £375 but has 12 megapixel resolution and 24x zoom, which looks very nice. www.dpreview.com/news/0902/09020303nikonp90.aspThere's also a Kodak coming out soon with the exact same specification but I would get the Nikon if any. I would like an SLR one day but I can't really afford the expense. The advantage is that generally you get a clearer picture and you can interchange lenses and more powerful flashes. You can see the differences in the Kettering match day thread between mine and Romford Kev's pictures. You'll see that they are that little bit clearer and crisper, plus it helps to know what your are doing with a camera. Mine has the odd setting which gets me out of jail! I'll let Kev give you the lowdown on SLRs.

Dave, I knew there was a block of flats hanging over the pitch, but like you I didn't expect them to be literally pitch-side. The two bottom apartments on that particular block (painted blue) are the dressing rooms! Well the dressing rooms are where they always used to be because those flats where built on the site of the old grandstand. If you approach them from street side they look just like ordinary two story houses/maisonettes as the ground is built on the site of an old gravel pit with the pitch below ground level on that side of the stadium.................rather like a smaller version of Charlton's Valley or Watford's Vicarage Road. Just like Brentford and Southend, Grays ground has been "downsized" in order to cash in on land value whilst staying in situ rather than re-locating. Mind you, Chairman Mike Woodward has purchased a piece of land at nearby Blackshots on which to build the club a purpose built stadium up to Football League standard and able to cater for other sporting and corporate activity. He and I spent ten minutes chatting in the Social Club before the game and he was expounding on the frustrations and difficulties of working with the local authority on this and their total inability to grasp the sporting aspect of the project Romford Kev and I have known Mick for several years now, and will tell you it is entirely down to him and his family that Grays are where they are today and even have a future at all...................one of football's true characters and a great guy with a heart as big as a football!

The impression together with those around me (with the view as in picture 14) that we had of the Grays goal was that it came off the post however we stand to be corrected by those with a wider view. I was directly behind the goal for their goal. The wind took hold of it and it kept moving further to Bevan's right. Scott got his hand to it and then it hit the inside of the post (I heard and saw both) Well done those 34 hardy supporters who stood behind our goal in the first half and suffered the wind & rain to support Bevon and the 12 who remained during the second half. I was also one of the 34 and 12, I was soaked through but it was worth it to be face-to-face with Wayne when he headed the ball straight at me with only the net to prevent me getting whacked in the face A massive victory for us indeed.

Heaven forbid that I 'm going slightly off track here Chris, but it states that the NikonP90 optical 24x (624 in 35mm speech) also has 4x digital. Does that mean 2496 in 35mm speech?

How effective it is in practice I wouldn't like to say. I mentionned this camera to a work colleague today and he went all shy and girly on me. He's been wanting to buy a Sony A600 SLR but now I think he might go for the Nikon instead.

I notice your match report didn't mention how you couldn't get through the turnstiles again...
