Bidiford V Torquay United 22nd July 2008(Errea)

A bit of a disappointment really.
I would suggest that most of the team put out last night would be part of the 'back up' squad. Exceptions are Poke (obviously), Green, Thompson and Mansell. Though I expect Mansell and Thompson to swap their positions.
The pitch was a bit "spongey", but some of our ball retention was not good given the amount of room to play in. A 2-0 win was a fair reflection, but Bideford had two golden opportunities to score with balls lobbed over the top of our stationary centre half's.

Plus side

Poke - assured and never looked like making a mistake
Thompson - would prefer to see in midfield though.
Green - worked well, mainly on his own

Fair

Mansell - would like to see back at full back
Brough - did OK
Nicholson - I think will give way to Hodges
Stevens - a couple of good runs, not much support in the middle

Not very good

Ellis - cannot understand his signing, slow, too many mistakes
Woods - best days behind him? Could play with Todd, but not Ellis
Benyon- lightweight, kept losing out to stronger opponents (again)
Carayol - might be trying too hard to impress. Scored, but didn't do enough for me. [glow=red,2,300]Bizarrely made MOM by Devon FA!! [/glow]

When Carlisle came on we instantly looked better.
I would expect there to be more of a 1st team look to play against Eastleigh.
