Woah woah woah! (That's French for "stop a horse") Let's not be hasty guys, it's still an excellent paper with incredibly talented writers...

Your loss Sam, good paper but now irrelavent. Just like our brief spell in the Conference the NLP was interesting and informative, a real eye opener and worth every penny, a true football fans paper if you like!

Just bought my last ever copy of the NLP- what a great feeling I've been a regular reader since it's inception and our departing the BSP will not stop me buying it every Sunday in the future......................a great read! According to it's columnist Stuart Hammonds today, we have not retained the services of Steve Woods, Iselden Christie, or Roscoe Dsane (well we knew that!), made Matt Green and Michael Brough available for loan or transfer offered another differing role to Chris Hargreaves, "talking to" Martin Rice, and received "a hint" from Michael Poke that he would like to stay! Are Mussy and Mark Ellis staying then? I hope so, and I would be sorry to see Greeny leave too for that matter; and what about Thommo? too good to let go surely. Robbo and Benners have been made offers as has Blair Sturrock, but his is to "prove his fitness" in pre season prior to any consideration of a contract.......................I reckon he could struggle to do that given his track record.

I've just read this too. Very disappointing that we have to rely on the press to supply this information rather than direct from the club. Can't see us keeping both Bevan and Poke - they are both too good to occupy the bench for most of the season, and surely Poke is the better of the two and it would be most unfair on Bevan.

I've just read the NLP in Sainsburys (did not buy it ofcourse), and it was most informative about Torquay. In fact there are pages of stuff about Torquay, so it's well worth a look. Their journalist seems to be a step ahead about our transfer talk, see Merse's post above for details.

Now that we are back in the league I will buy it. Used to buy it quite regularly because I am bit of a groundhopper but not of the anorak type, just like different grounds. I know I am over sensitive but just couldn't buy it when we were actually in the non-league, it was like... an acceptance, I don't know. I am happy now though.

Thommo has another year. he signed this season on a 2 year deal.

I've bought the NLP pretty much from the start - today's was read in the sun on Brentor - and will continue to do so. It's had a chequered career - with a number of dodgy owners who haven't always paid their contributors - but now seems to be as strong as ever and recently saw off a rival publication. It doesn't always get things right - a fair few front page stories have sunk without trace - but it does a good steady job of covering a sizeable chunk of English football from the Conference down to county leagues. And, through knowing James Wright - the man behind the results pages - I can tell you that those from Step 5 downwards are compiled by an absolute perfectionist who is determined to make the coverage as complete as possible. The Non League game has been well-served by the NLP, Tony Kempster's site and Tony Williams' Non League Directory which has now been published for over thirty years. Sadly, however, James is not publishing his Non-League Newsdesk Annual this year but if you ask nicely - at james@nlnewsdesk.co.uk - I'm sure he'll let you have last year's at a knockdown price. To give an indication of the detail contained in that publication here's a few pages: Over 80 leagues including our very own SDL: FA Vase and FA Trophy results and crowds: 100s of cup competitions with our demise at Clyst Rovers for all to see: An index of over 10,000 teams complete with a number of quirky name changes:

If its true that Green has been offered to go out on loan or be transferred then I'm not surprised and would go as far as to say he may have asked for this to happen
Chris Hargreaves blog done in the bath made it clear that Green hates not being in the team. I would have thought he felt he would have been a regular in the team when he choose us over oxford.
I would be sorry to see him go as I think he would do well for us in the second division, but you can be sure Bucks would only want him to stay, if he fully believed Green was going to work hard and fight for his place and not get in strops if he was not picked.
