Thought this might be worth a thread to update every now and then.
I'll start the ball rolling with the news that Anthony Lloyd has joined Guiseley after being released by York.

It seams like he is dropping like a stone down the leagues! At least playing for Guiseley it will be handy to get fish and chips after the game, their ground is at the side of the of the "biggest fish and chip shop in the world"

Not Harry Ramsdens per chance? A nice bit of haddock & chips post match would go down very well..... plus a couple of pickled onions of course (we could have played at Guiseley in 1999 in the FAC, but they lost to FGR in the 1st rd.)

I might be well behind the news on this one, but I see Merse's favourite lift-seeking lanky Frenchman is now plying his trade in the SPL with Aberdeen, challenging Scotland B international Jamie Langfield for the starting position.....the one, the only, Bertrand Bossu!!

Two players from the Leroy era:- Noticed Morike Sako is on trial at Hereford. Paul Jarvie (remember him?) is at Peterhead.

Two players from more recent times - Danny Wring and Darren Mullings are currently on trial with Weston Super Mare, and both played (and Mullings scored ) in their 1-1 draw with Exeter on Friday. If I remember correctly WSM tried to sign Mullings last year before we came in with the offer of a contract, so I expect him to get a deal there. Good luck to the both of them. Also in their squad was Andy Gurney (Asst Mgr) and Ryan Northmore was in goal for them.Quite an ex Gulls club being formed there.

Paul Robinson from season 05-06 is on trial with Darlington.
Relevant to tomorrow's game - big John Gayle is Newton Abbot's manager.
Was told Paul Hinshelwood is having a trial with Forest Green.

Chapeau Beertie B! A better keeper than given credit for by a "manager" who wouldn't know a good keeper if one came up and bit him on the arse!

Anthony Lloyd has joined Guiseley after being released by York. As soon as I clapped eyes on him for the first time at Harrogate, I said he didn't have the physique to compete at First Team level. Managers who sign players like this are clutching at straws as the fact that he has never consolidated at any senior level shows.

Would you like to explain that in more detail? are you on about the players physique only? We know you don't like the small short ones, but we have Danny Stevens, is he not small and was Buckle clutching at straws when he was signed.

So how many games did Stevens start, and how many of those did he play consistently well? You just don't see many players that small in pro football.............the best little ones I've ever seen - Jimmy Giles and Billy Bremner had the physique and strength to overcome their height issues................Lloyd and Stevens patently do not. It's as simple and as brutal as that!

Sean seemed to suggest last night that Danny is flying this season and will play a big part in our season.
Yes being strong and having physical presence does give any play an advantage, but there many players who are smaller, yet have the skill they need, to play their part in a team. After all this game really is about skill, not just brawn.

After all this game really is about skill, not just brawn. I agree with your view but made the point that one very rarely sees a pro' that small, and those that do possess extremely good upper body strength that Stevens has yet to acquire. At least Danny plays in a position whereby he can utilise his superb close control and pace over the first five yards to get at big defenders and get them off balance.................if I was an opposition coach and he was troubling my team I would detail a smallish player to man mark him so as to minimise the chances of that happening..................a role for Lloyd then perhaps Summing up,wingers/midfielders as small as Stevens are as rare as hen's teeth; whilst fullbacks as puny as Lloyd are simply not in the game!
