Or from Fulham, Stoke, Derby, Sheffield United or West Brom! I'm fairly sure he's not married to the chief executive of all those as well! Haha! He must have a suitcase full of excuses.

I don't think that Hagreaves will be with us next season - but that is his own choice rather than the club not offering him a new deal. Perhaps he feels that he has nothing more to prove at this level, it's 20 years since his debut for Grimsby (against Cambridge United!) and does he really want to play through the knocks and strains anymore? What a blaze of glory he finished his career with if he hangs his boots up!
I think that he won't be short of offers for whatever he does next, whether that will be coaching in Oz or the USA or media work. Whilst I don't have any right to expect it to be announced before the parade on Thursday, it would be great to know one way or another so that people could wish him all the best.
If he was to go (and I really, really hope that he doesn't!), he would basically have been a Mary Poppins figure for us - his contribution has been immense and he leaves this club so unbelieveably better than when he joined. A great character and fantastic on the pitch - last season he seemed to fade a bit, but this last month has seen him produce some of the best performances I have seen from him. No-one is irreplaceable, but if we got a replacement anywhere near his dedication, ability and attitude I would be delighted.

Greavsy has evidently retired from the game according to a reporter on the Setanta Football show last night. They showed a clip of the Wembley goals and discussed the match and Greavsy in particular and the reporter guy on the panel of three with Les Ferdinand said he would not be playing again.

That's a real shame. He will be difficult to replace on and off the pitch. He reminded me a lot of Wes. His performances were vital to our promotion and he was simply awesome against Blackpool. CH has produced the same level of influence if not more so. I would like to think he will stay on in some capacity if funds allow.

In many ways I'm not surprised, but still saddend by this, similar to the way that Gary Nelson retired after a great (individual) and hugely influencial spell with us.
In an interview on the pitch straight from the match he said that it was "the best moment of his career" - how can he really top that as a player now? Perhaps he feels it is a natural time to move-on from the aches and pains he has put himself through. It's easy for me to hope that he remains involved at the club in a coaching role - that's up to him, Bucks and the club to see if that can happen.

I've just spent a happy couple of days down the Smoke despite the expense. My partner (West Brom upbringing, even enjoyed the occasion) gave her all (wanted little Danny to score the first goal - £1 riding on it!) and confused the neighbours on the day with her strange accent.
As for Chris Hargreaves - does the club really think he's going to deteriorate that much after what we've seen him do this season? Now, I'm not one for sentiment, but for me, he is the heart-beat of this team and will give us the continuity we need next season. League 2 is not that better than the top-half of the BSP. He has the fitness, he has the desire. Also, what kind of message does it send out to prospective signings if we discard the player who got us back into the league?
In my opinion, he is an intelligent man, an intelligent player and an absolute leader. For goodness sake, look at the likes of Gordon Strachan and Gary Speed; they were valuable at 40 for their clubs! Greavsie and Wroe just do it for me in centre-mid. Greavsie should have been rested on many occasions this season but he wasn't - how can we dump him now in all logic? Keep him, you know it makes sense (as Del-Boy was wont to say!).

Accidentally you`ve made a very very good case against the Steve Woods/Anti Buckle brigade there, maybe! Waits to get shot down in flames!

See what you're saying Aussie. I was never a Woods fan until what I saw from him this season but as much as his quality and effort was, he didn't see it through to the end (for whatever underlying reason, and I haveno clue what it was really). Hargreaves has given absolutely everything, without any promise of future reward. Total professionalism and, still, that attitude would serve us well next year.
Also a note - I thought Sills would have to come off Sunday but he played with the ankle of an elephant! Top man! (thankfully Wayne listened to me and pulled it back for his goal).
p.s. I'm going to stick my neck out and say Wayne Carlisle was the man of the match - and if someone wants to argue this (considering the grief he's had from Torquay fans this year), I'm ready to go!!
Woo-hoo! C'mon you yellows! (why do we still sing 'yellows' yellows! When we're in white??)

Just seems to me to be a very convincing post that could almost suggest the best player this year beyond a doubt is Tarzan, so please explain to me how Steve Woods got player of the year!

It's the big question I suppose. He might deteriorate or he might not. It all depends whether Chris Hargreaves fancies another season or not. He look look like the fittest 36 year old around but heaven knows what sacrifices he's made. There's only so much ibuprofen you can take. I think he's been a wonderful aquisition for Torquay United football club and he's been one of the most influential players over the last years. I would love to see him play more games for us but only Chris knows how much longer he can go on for. I hope he remains at the club for as long as possible but I think he would also make a good player/manager for a BSP club. The worst case scernario would be if he stayed and he wasn't able to reproduce the same level of performance he's showed in the last 10 games, it would be a sad sight I think. Best to quit when you're ahead.

He would be going out on a really good high moment BUT he is such a leader and influence, it would be sad if he wasn`t there next season when we get promoted again!

Chris Hayes - yes, I hear what you're saying about the effort given and that it all gets a bit grim when your favourite racehorse can't make then jumps anymore. Being an addict to Ibuprofen* (non-branded of course!), I think that a summer off will re-charge those batteries - he just needs to be managed not run into the ground. Aussie - I've no idea why Woods was player of the year other than to guess that it was down to sentiment and the length of service. Yes, he was better than he had been for a while but there's no way he was more effective or more important than other players this season. Perhaps it was also an anti-Buckle and the position in the league (at the time) vote? *I've been a egg-chaser for some years and it is our drug of choice. Of course, when you get past your mid-thirties , all it does is make your bruises more prominent! Come on Greavsie the pain is only temporary - try playing a real man's game!!!

Don`t get me wrong here, I have always liked Steve Woods as a player and a character, served us above and beyond over the years he was here, I have a lot of respect for him, he done us very proud, but, I don`t think he was our best player this season, maybe he got into my top five but not the winner!
