I do believe merse has bought a ticket without knowing where he is sitting !!! Don't forget to doff your cap, fella. Well played on ringing Mr Strudwick. It sounds as though change is afoot on the ticketing front, which is good news. I think it's our season, you know. Enjoy your Beaver Patrol tonight, cg. I look forward to your report and good news for H&R.

You're on, Andy.
Off to a bit of egg-chasing, Cullompton and the wife's team Liskeard at Twickers tomorrow. Need a sporting fix. Ticket prices -reasonable.

Taking into account the FACT that Wembley is but forty five minutes by road from Cambridge (then another 45 minutes from any parking place to the ground), that the rail system will be in it's usual state of weekend melt down and the prices are already bleeding scandalous, that the London underground will NOT be providing any service to Wembley at all on the Jubilee Line that weekend just getting to Wembley will be a logistical and and financial nightmare for a considerable number of OUR fans and it will be no surprise to find that we are embarrassingly outnumbered by a ratio of 4:1. You see, it is happening already; I think this will rank with the Friday night embarrassment when we took less than ten thousand to Wembley for the Colchester defeat, and I can't envisage the total gate being much above 25,000. We'll be rattling around our end of the stadium like peas in a pod, and I know of other London based Gulls who aren't going. Let's be honest, we have seen our support base implode this season and all this disdainful treatment at the hands of the ticket agency has been the straw that broke the camel's back for many of the potential "Day Trippers". I'm sure that many of them aren't in the habit of reading websites and when they've found out how ridiculously "remote" the selling arrangements are they've just turned around and said "bollocks". In fact when you factor in the overall cost of it all........................getting there, food and drink and extortionate ticket prices ~ what incentive is there to lost supporters to back the club on this occasion? I cannot believe that the Conference Board, who when all is said and done are ALL directors of Conference clubs; cannot absorb the very obvious FACT that the competing clubs (in fact this would apply to any pair of clubs in the BSP) barely aggregate seven thousand regular fans between them and to use Wembley is just plain fantasy. Well, in this year of the recession their vanity has come back and bitten them on the bum and when all the overheads from hiring this venue are taken out; they'll be damned lucky if the Play Off Final doesn't run at a loss this season so that instead of getting a nice cheque to tide them through the close season, member clubs will have another ruddy bill on their door mat and I'll be laughing my bloody socks off at them for their plain incompetence. The year will sure as eggs come when they get a "FGR V Histon" type of final and then they're going to look really stupid. Far better to have a two legged home and away final, but at least a one off final at a sensible venue in the future.

Would someone please advise me about park and ride going to Wembley from Devon. Last year it worked great going to Hillingdon for £5. However this season Hillingdon does not appear to be available ? According to the official website the best all the park and ride options are inconvenient if I'm travelling up the A303. High Wycombe looks the best of a bad bunch of options. I don't know if I can catch a tube / train from high Wycombe directly to Wembley ? Would someone please advise me where to park for the best cost and convenience. Thanks. People tell me that the traffic after games isn't as bad as you might expect. Consequently some advise parking relatively close to Wembley and walking. However - as before - we're likely to park at Gerrards Cross on the High Wycombe line and take the train to Wembley Stadium, the nearest station to the stadium. Traffic and parking is far better in Gerrards Cross than Wycombe. Journey time is short but varies between trains. I've lifted this from www.nationalrail.co.uk. Please be careful to double-check. From Gerrards Cross before game: Dep GX 1308 1334 1348 1410 1432 1449 1510 Arr WS 1328 1347 1403 1432 1458 1504 1531 From Wembley Stadium after game: Dep WS 1802 1812 1826 1848 1858 1912 1929 1936 1945 Arr GX 1818 1835 1842 1911 1916 1934 1945 1958 2002 We first used Gerrards Cross in 1998 when the ticket seller was a chap with the broadest Deb'n accent imaginable. For our benefit he showed it off by making an announcement for " all Torquay United supporters travelling to Wembley Stadium". Priceless. Not sure if he's still working but, a year or two ago, I heard him on Radio Devon reciting the alphabet in Deb'n dialect. Here he is: www.bbc.co.uk/devon/content/articles/2007/09/13/dialect_alphabet_feature.shtml

Thanks for the advice about parking at Gerrards Cross, Barton Downs. Have you any rough idea about the prices to park the car there and the train fare to Wembley ? Also can you pre-book your car at Gerrards Cross ?
By the way, I phoned NCP today, and they confirmed you cannot pre-book any NCP car parks such as Hillingdon as they are all over subscribed. Until I'm happy where I can park at a reasonable cost and convenience, only then will I consider purchasing tickets.

Perhaps he'll stand on his head in a bucket of shit instead. I have it on good authority that he has recently taken delivery of a brand new shit-producing machine!

When we there in 1998 we parked in a nearby street - it's a pretty safe area! I didn't travel with my mate last year - he was about to become a grandparent so his plans were always subject to change - so not sure where he parked. I don't recall much difficulty the first time. www.thetrainline.com is showing £7.10 for a day return.

Thats the way to do it folks. Highly unlikely to be any parking restrictions in the area on a Sunday. All those areas out that way such as Hillingdon, Ickenham etc are very safe and affluent so I wouldn't worry too much about leaving your cars there.
Just make sure there are no planned engineering works on that part of the Metropolitan line before you travel.
