I can confirm that at 8:12pm this evening Calvin Amery Merson became the newest arrival to the TUFC family, weighing in at 7lbs 8oz (strangely exactly the same weight was when I was born as well which has his father worried). Merse says he and the baby are doing fine......as is Bijou, and that was the order they were mentioned when he rang me to tell me of the good news. I'd like to send my own personal congratulations to all of the Merson Hackney clan and look forward to seeing Calvin at his first TUFC game in the not too distant future. Apparently Merse won't be taking him to Histon on Monday since they offer no concessions!!!

Thanks for all the good wishes and yes Calvin duly popped out and told me to get my money on Mine That Girl (50/1) to win tonight's Kentucky Derby as he had the jockey Calvin (The Paint Stripper) Burrell on board. Of course the Paint Stripper brought a very modest horse charging through on the rail to victory in his own inimitable style (hence the name "paint stripper"), but sadly Daddy wasn't on it as they say to benefit from the winning tip. Bijou was actually in theatre being prepared for a Caesarian when the little fella decided he'd make a move after all and I was stood beside her blissfully unaware that my "theatre" trousers had fallen around my ankles such was my transfiction with proceedings. I'd like to thank Bijou too for having the good grace to deliver between legs (oh dear that sounds appalling) of the BSP Play Off Semi and NOT immediately after Nicky Wroe's opening goal last night as I feared she would when she jumped up and yelled "Get In There".....................or something very like that in French Even for a serial stud like me it's still a mind boggling experience to see your child and his mother the object of attention and expert care from a dozen medical staff and to be there at the birth and then get handed your child in the first minute of his earthly life is just the ultimate experience. Calvin wishes it to be known that he thinks Exeter City winning a second successive promotion under Paul Tisdale is a fitting tribute for all individually sartorial minded men particularly as he was looking at his dad's fallen strides at the time!

Best wishes to Merse and his family. Maybe less frequent middle of the night posts for the next few months? ;D
