Back in the '60s when you became a member of the UTFC supportersclub you recieved a 'button' with a season added under neath it. Each season you could add a new one. Don't know how you guys call it in proper English but I got one from my friend Bruce, who got it from his dad when he was young. Only the year 68-69 is missing. Bruce also has one, but his one is complete. That is from 1960 til 1970. I was so proud to get it from him as a present and I keep it safe in my 'trophy room' at home with the rest of my TUFC memoriablia. Do any of you guys know if there are more 'buttons' like this that survived throughout the years?

That looks a great treasure and I must confess I have never seen one before, are you hoping that someone will be able to find the missing one for you? I do hope one can be found to make yours complete.

I do hope one can be found to make yours complete. If someone had my missing year then that would be nice, but i'm not actively searching for it. I think they are very rare so to find the missing year would be very, very fortunate.

Seeing this supporters club badge takes me back to my first year at secondary school - 1967/68 - when a lad in my year turned up one day with one of these (with several years of membership clearly evident) pinned to his blazer. It was an object of some desire amongst us and - indeed - a fair degree of speculation given his lack of form as a Torquay United supporter. It's a sad little story because it had been given to him and - even at the time - it was pretty clear that he, who as an individual was often bullied, was wearing it to school to win a bit of kudos. I remember him leaving our school soon afterwards to move elsewhere. I hope I'm wrong about this and that he retained an interest in the club for a long time afterwards.
All in all, that first year at the grammar school played a big part in consolidating and deepening my interest in TUFC. Admittedly it was a special season but my interest changed from being rather lukewarm in the summer of 1967 - I doubt we ever considered going to Brisbane Road rather than White Hart Lane that August afternoon - to being far more committed. By the end of the season I was putting pressure on my father to take me to an away game and, indeed, my first venture was to that game at Reading in May 1968.

I too was given one of those badges when I started to go to Plainmoor in 1967, complete with a few bars of the 'ladder' as I recall them being called. I started wearing the badge again a few years ago in the front flap of a russian 'fur' hat. I was devastated when some b*stard in the cloakroom of a dodgy bar in Moscow nicked it from within the pocket of the coat I wore into the bar. Perhaps it had a strange kitsch value to him too
