..........on the bench that is!
The next two games and, hopefully, subsequent Play Off games are obviously massive. Our whole season could be decided by a freak injury or refereeing decision in any of these games. For this reason I'd like to see us go into these games with the insurance of having a goalie on the bench. Do we still have Poke on our books?
We obviously got away with it at Forest Green and I am not critisising the policy of having five outfield player subs thus far - I just think it would be prudent, particularly when Christie is currently occupying one of those slots.
Years ago, during one of our great escapes Aktins went without a sub goalie for the last few games and I was equally uncomfortable with it then. I just think for such a crucial game the five subs should cover all our bases.

..........on the bench that is! Now that we can agree on, every game now is effectively a cup tie; and as you allude to ~ you can never trust these refs at this level who show all too often their difficulty in dealing with a big match atmosphere and pressure from the home team.

Very good shout.
If we were to lose Bevan to injury or illness on Tuesday we might lose, the game , a playoff spot and a manager.
I would agree that we must have a substitute keeper for the remainder of our season.

Enzo Poke is still with us and came down not so long ago to train with the team, he spends most of his time with his own club.
As he is signed until the end of the season and the real fear that anything could happen to Bevan, then having the assurance of a proper keeper on the bench, must surely be a must.
Yes Hodges has gone in goal before and we remember the game that Sills went in goal, but to be fair he never really got tested in that game.
I would hate to lose out on a play-off place or even a result in the semi-finals just because we did not have cover for Bevan on the bench, its far to important now and we should be trying to safeguard and protect all the hard work that has been done so far to even be in the position we are now.
Get on the phone Bucks as soon as possible, but he may well have already done that don't you think.

Well, he is back in the squad for Barrow and presumably will make the bench. Obviously Buckle agrees with the above sentiments and maybe he will remain in the squad now until the end of the season - whenever that will be. Everyone happy now?

Poke has a broken nose and cracked jaw Stuart - sounds worse than it is perhaps (ie certainly not something that is likely to be hugely made worse through just playing)?
Fair play to Poke for being up for the challenge.
