We are currently on twelve games in all competitions, ten league games.I thought I’d spend a few minutes filtering, cutting and pasting on my “Every TUFC Result Ever” spreadsheet to confirm what the current records are.
Our longest unbeaten run in league games is FIFTEEN which we have achieved twice.
After losing at Chesterfield on 10/9/60, we won eight and drew seven before losing at Shrewsbury on 17/12/60.
After losing at Carlisle on 28/4/90 we drew the last game of the 1989/90 season and then won nine and drew five at the start of the 1990/91 season before losing at Scarborough on 9/11/90.
Both of these runs were interrupted by cup defeats - to Plymouth (League Cup) and Peterborough (FA Cup) in 1960 and to Man City (League Cup) in 1990.
Our longest unbeaten run in all competitions is FOURTEEN which we have also achieved twice.
After losing the last game of the 1966/67 season at home to Swansea on 6/5/67, we started the 1967/68 season with six wins and four draws in the league and two wins and two draws in the League Cup before losing at Barrow on 7/10/67.
After losing at Bradford City on 20/3/76, we won three and drew six games at the end of the 1975/76 season and started 1976/77 with two league wins and two wins and a draw in the League Cup before losing at home to Aldershot on 4/9/76. That’s not counting our historic victory in the mighty South West Holidays Cup. If you let me count that, we went sixteen league and cup games unbeaten. That didn't save Malcolm Musgrove from the sack a couple of months later.
The great 2008 run ended up smashing the "all games" record by getting to 17 (13 league, 3 FA Cup, 1 Setanta Shield) before we lost at Forest Green in the Setanta Shield.
The league run stalled one short of the record at 14 league games when we lost at Eastbourne. We are currently on 14 league games unbeaten - so one more to equal the record.
