We are currently on twelve games in all competitions, ten league games.
I thought I’d spend a few minutes filtering, cutting and pasting on my “Every TUFC Result Ever” spreadsheet to confirm what the current records are.
Our longest unbeaten run in league games is FIFTEEN which we have achieved twice.
After losing at Chesterfield on 10/9/60, we won eight and drew seven before losing at Shrewsbury on 17/12/60.
After losing at Carlisle on 28/4/90 we drew the last game of the 1989/90 season and then won nine and drew five at the start of the 1990/91 season before losing at Scarborough on 9/11/90.
Both of these runs were interrupted by cup defeats - to Plymouth (League Cup) and Peterborough (FA Cup) in 1960 and to Man City (League Cup) in 1990.
Our longest unbeaten run in all competitions is FOURTEEN which we have also achieved twice.
After losing the last game of the 1966/67 season at home to Swansea on 6/5/67, we started the 1967/68 season with six wins and four draws in the league and two wins and two draws in the League Cup before losing at Barrow on 7/10/67.
After losing at Bradford City on 20/3/76, we won three and drew six games at the end of the 1975/76 season and started 1976/77 with two league wins and two wins and a draw in the League Cup before losing at home to Aldershot on 4/9/76. That’s not counting our historic victory in the mighty South West Holidays Cup. If you let me count that, we went sixteen league and cup games unbeaten. That didn't save Malcolm Musgrove from the sack a couple of months later.

Thanks Jon - I'd been wondering how to find this out. Let's hope we can rewrite some history in the next few weeks.

Well If we need to rewrite the history, I know some very good people, who would do an excellent job Interesting facts and all records are always there to be beaten, lets hope Bucks can add that to his C.V along with getting his team promoted, In only his second season as a manager.

Jon, your stats are simply legendary.
At work today, I was thinking that I would start a thread asking if anyone knows about our longest unbeaten runs and it seems you read my my mind. If I hadn't already given RK my Post of the Month vote for his excellent picture threads, you would have been in the running.
Forums need people like you Jon, keep up the good work.

The one reason I joined this forum and not any others, was because Of all the great writers this forum seems blessed with In abundance. Not just history to read about, but so many other interesting parts to the site.
I love the ground photos and also being able to vote for the best posts, I also like the fact the time Dave R puts into everything, even making sure everyone who has a birthday, gets a message On the birthday board. Was It merse who said this place was a breath of fresh air, If It was well he got that correct.

During this excellent run of 12 games we drew against Wreham and Oxford in the 5th and 7th games respectively meaning we have also achieved five wins in a row! I think we had 6 straight wins in the 2003/4 promotion season and that this was fairly special at the time! Does anyone know the record for straight wins as well, as we have a great chance of going for six wins on Saturday. Many Thanks - Jon et al.

Does anyone know the record for straight wins as well, as we have a great chance of going for six wins on Saturday. We only managed as many as four in a row in 2003/04. We did this twice, either side of being robbed by Huddersfield at Plainmoor. Sodje had hold of Graham throughout the whole game without being penalised. Graham once managed to wriggle out of his grip to get one on one with the keeper, only for the ref to call it back and give us a free kick. Unbelievable! We would have had nine straight wins under the great Leroy if we'd had a decent ref for that game! I don't know if you're thinking of 1998, when we won eight consecutive league games (inspired by Jason Roberts and Rodney Jack), starting with a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury on 24/1/98 and ending with a 3-0 loss at home to Cambridge on 7/3/98. The all-time record ifor consecutive wins is TEN, starting with a 5-1 win over Yeovil on 19/2/27 and ending in defeat at Poole on 15/4/27. These were all league wins – seven in the Southern and three in the Western. The most consecutive wins in the same league is nine in the Southern League, starting with a 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers Reserves on 22/1/27 and ending with a draw at Bath City on 18/4/27. Perhaps Chelstongull has some memories of the 1927 runs he could share with us - although I think he was quite young at the time.

The only memory I have of the points detailed in your post is the David Graham incident with Sodji.
See you Saturday.

Thanks for that Jon, impeccable as always!!! Must have been thinking about the 8 / 9 wins in 03 / 04 with the selective memory translating this into a great run of straight wins that it should have been!!! Our next five games are against Evesham, York, Lewes, Woking and Grays, and although that includes a tricky trip to York, in the form we are in, it is possible that both records could be broken However, I think it is best to take one game at the time and enjoy fully both this run and the performances out on the pitch.

Maybe you're thinking of Davey G scoring in 6 or 7 consecutive games...I think that was at the start of 2002/03 season - the one of some insanely jazz football but ultimately too inconsistent (and rubbish in defence) for promotion...

Sometimes it is hard to compare records on a like for like basis across different leagues. Looking at the above you could argue our record for consecutive wins is eight, nine or ten! I can see a parallel from 1998 where we currently have 2 strikers banging them in, one of which is a young striker on loan from a higher league club who just looks too good for our level - hopefully he isn’t recalled just at the wrong time again!

Looking at the above you could argue our record for consecutive wins is eight, nine or ten! Indy is reporting that eight straight wins equals the record. Clearly it does not. There is an obvious logic in looking at Football League only and possibly some spurious logic in counting Conference / National League Premier but not Southern League. But there is no logic at all in counting National League South while ignoring the pre-league years in the Southern League! The record is ten wins if you count Western League games (which we should) or nine if you limit to "in the same league" - but definitely not eight! The last relegation takes us into new territory stats-wise. If we are going to count the 2018-19 season, we really have to go back and include the years 1921-27 too!
