All season long fans have been asking if Bucks knows his best team and does he know the best pairing up front for us.Tim Sills has always been one of the first players named in Bucks squad and we have seen him play with Green, Benyon, even Dsane and a few games with Thompson playing just behind him, before Sturrock arrived and he now seems to be the choice to play up front with Sills.
But is it the best pairing and do their own style of game suit both players? Well I think not and I believe the best paring would be Sturrock and Green up front.
It would mean we would have to change our style, no more long high balls aimed for the Sills like players, but balls played through our midfield(the one so often bypassed in recent games) and played to Sturrocks feet. We know how good he is at holding up the ball and the balls he looks to lay off are far better suited to players with Greens pace.
I do think these two players playing together would result in us scoring more goals than we are at this time, while I think Sills is a good player, his shooting of late is the worst I have seen for a striker at this level, well thats my view anyway.

Hmmn...................last season weren't you castigating the manager for changing the style at the end of the season? Seeing as Sills has recently been offered and accepted a contract extension, I don't expect to see him replaced in the near future and whilst I thought Sturrock looked very capable on the one occasion I have had the opportunity to see him play for us (v Burton on TV)_he was certainly becoming more and more restricted in his mobility as the game wore on and he was eventually substituted...................so don't expect in all reality Dave, to see him used as the fulcrum of any attack this season. I DO believe he might well become OUR player during the close season and should that happen I believe he will either challenge Sills for the type of role you mention with Green playing off him or even form a partnership with Sills as a front two ~ but remember neither of these two players has a reputation as consistently sharp finishers on the ground from close distance although surely no-one can complain of Sills returns as a goalscorer over the past two seasons with us. Like most other sides in this league, we've almost exclusively gone with a "Sills type" (Sills himself of course) figure playing high up the pitch to build our attacks around and I wouldn't anticipate things being any different next season if we were to remain in the BSP but maybe Sills lack of mobility and pace will necessitate a change of thinking in League 2 where he never did manage to make his mark with either Hereford or Oxford. As for "playing through the midfield", I don't think that's a particularly sensible option with Hargreaves in the side, and as I don't really see him being replaced for the rest of the season I would expect more of the familiar setting of play to bring the likes of Carlisle and Dsane/Stevens/Caryol into play. The way we play DOES seem more aptly set up for away games where the opposition come at us more readily, but again looking towards next season I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Hargreaves depart and either a new midfield fulcrum brought in or Thompson or Brough persevered with. Greavsie will be 37 next season and in all reality his career is over at this level or at least at OUR end of the table and if he wishes to play on it would probably have to be at a "Salisbury" or "Eastbourne" type of club where expectations are less demanding.
