Here`s a nice picture of the 53/54 team on front of Raich Carter`s Soccer Star dated 20/03/54.
It was a national soccer weekly.
Includes lots of interesting reading,but nothing about Torquay United inside.

I've got a pile of Soccer Stars from much later - from 1965 through to its demise in 1970. I must investigate that second hand shop down the alley in Dawlish which has a pile of 1950s editions in the window.

Soccer Star was on the wane by 1969 but here are some gems from forty years ago this week:
