As one or two people showed an interest in the sheet of signatures I posted earlier here's a further one from my collection showing the team of 1948. As before I've followed it up with a short piece on the players who signed it. Interestingly Ron Coleman is on there but he doesn't appear listed in any of the record books I have, although in Mike Holgate's book there is a picture from two years earlier in which R. Coleman appears. Surprising he's not recorded considering he was there for some time and was obviously very much part of proceedings to appear in a photo and to sign his autograph. Torquay United 1948 Signatures on the sheet Name, followed by dates played, appearances and goals scored Ralph Calland 1946-54; 207; 14 Hugh Cameron 1948-51; 120; 17 Jack Casley 1947-48; 1; 0 Ron Coleman 1946-48; 0; 0 Jack Conley 1946-51; 156; 72 Bert Head 1936-51; 222; 6 Dennis Lewis 1947-59; 442; 31 Hugh Reynolds 1948-49; 3; 0 Archie McFeat 1948-49; 9; 0 Ron Shaw 1946-58; 384; 99 Ellis Stuttard 1947-51; 82; 0 Dave Topping 1948-53; 151; 3 Billy Thomas 1947-55; 90; 17 Bill Towers 1946-56; 274; 0

Alan Bastow and Norman Lloyd? Thanks for your quick answer Jon. I thought it was Bastow, but cannot see him listed anywhere in the Centenary book. I think your right about Norman Lloyd. Cheers

I thought it was Bastow, but cannot see him listed anywhere in the Centenary book. The book only lists players who made at least one appearance in a competitive first team game. Quite a few pros over the years never managed this - including, I suppose, the Ron Coleman that Budleigh asked about. Alan Bastow was an inside left - so he had Don Mills to get past! I wonder how many Bastows have turned out for TUFC Reserves over the years!
