I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this subject, but we have now offered 15-year-old Ray Spear a trainee scholarship.
Plymouth Argyle had turned him down for an 'apprenticeship' at Home Park and it seems that Spear is someone who is very well thought of and one could go on any play at a higher level.
I really hope he goes on and proves Plymouth Argyle that they have made big mistake letting him go and its just one more good reason to all say a big well done to our board for getting the youth system up and running again.
I do hope it will continue next season. the remarks made by Paul Compton do not make things too clear about next season he said.
"Planning ahead for next year is a bit difficult for the club — we have to have a Plan A, if we win promotion back into the Football League, and a Plan B if we don't. "But at the moment we plan to be playing in the same Puma Alliance league that we are in this year."
Losing the sponsor must have put much extra financial pressure on the club, trying to keep the youth set up running and just how big and how it works next season clearly will depend on getting promotion or not.
It would be great to find a new sponsor, but I fear in these current times that would not be an easy task.
