Early this morning, a very warm feeling swept over me, no I was not having a hot flush, we men do not have them, and it’s only the ladies who get them. It’s a good job we don’t get them as I fear most men would not cope with them and they are just one more thing, that I feel woman unfairly have to deal and cope with.
My warm flush came about after reading the posts made by Jon and tufc01 on the forum late on Thursday night I had to read them quicker than I wanted too, as I was mindful I was required to get back to base as early as I could. Well it was the bosses’ wife’s birthday today, she works at Toolfix and as is the tradition on all our birthdays, the birthday banner would be put up. A quality cake bought and two bottle of sparkling wine put into the fridge.
All waiting for me to return so we could have a small party, mind you today I decided to really sing the happy birthday in true Davybeat style, the first time they have ever really heard my true singing voice, needless to say they were all very impressed.
Its days like these at Toolfix that make me keep my fingers crossed that we can ride out this credit crunch and survive, we really are just like an old fashioned company, no red tape and all our business done the old way based on trust and goodwill.
So I shut down the company PC and got in my van to set of to North Devon and I had a great picture in my head, one that came about as I thought about the two posts I had just read. I often like to put pictures in my head and I don’t want you to think I’m just a sad little man( you may be surprised to know I have been called that on this very forum) but I often get a picture in my head most nights around 10pm when I’m on this forum.
That picture is of and old moaner of a man, who is in bed with his bed shirt on, snoring louder than any pig I have ever heard and muttering the same line over very loudly as he sleeps” bloody prediction league posts”
This mornings picture was so much more a pleasant one and made me realise something that I think is really magic that has come about because of the setting up of this forum. The picture was Jon, tufc01 and the beautiful young lady known as chipnicker1, standing together enjoying eachothers company, on some away terrace at a ground so far away, it would have made me homesick to be there with them.
I set up the forum as I was not happy using another one, not happy the way I felt members were treated and my real aim was to create a quality forum, but more importantly one that every member felt was their own forum and not one that belonged to the user who’s name was in red.
I do feel I achieved those ends, but I think this forum has done something I never gave a thought to would happen the day I sat down and started to build it. That was that real life friendships would be formed, real people would be more than just someone you knew was typing on a keyboard just like you were.
Jon and tufc01 have got to know each other because they are members on here, would they still have met some other time in life? Who knows but I do know Jon really wanted to meet Barton Downs one day and once again I do feel due to the forum that has now happened. When I think back to all the great messages of support I received last year, during some very dark days for me, I know that while we are here because we have a common interest, we have all become part of a very good and warm community and one I know I’m so proud to be part of it and so glad that we all came together.
