Capitalgull, correct with the racecourses. For some reason I couldn't get Goodwood when I was first asked this. Should have been the easiest one.
As for Joe's Q5 - Jasper Carrot, Eisenhower, Patten, Ronnie Reagan, Barack Obama ... oh heck, I don't know! Google beckons...

Strange isn't it - I put those courses down in the order I thought of them, and Goodwood was the last one to come to my brain as well....sometime after the first three!

How about that other old chestnut question
Name the 5 English football clubs (from the top 5 leagues) that begin and end in the same letter (and excluding the FC at the end of their names).
As a bonus, do the same (i.e. name 5 teams) from the top 4 leagues in Scotland

This is Q5 which no one has got yet. Anyonw wwant to have a go at it?
5. Little known fact: In 1974, FIFA actually awarded the 1986 World Cup to Colombia, but a number of infrastructure and logistical problems meant that by 1983, FIFA was looking for a new host for the 1986 World Cup. Brazil, United States, Mexico and Canada put in bids to host the World Cup. Now, the leader of the U.S. bid X was trying his level best to revive the sport in the country, he was vocally supported by both Pele and Franz Beckenbauer in trying to bring the cup to the U.S. , but FIFA decided to award the rights to Mexico instead. It is said that Havelange wanted to teach U.S a lesson because the U.S football association had changed the offside line and also used shoot outs to decide drawn matches. Now, for 3 points tell me who led the U.S. bid - X?

As a bonus, do the same (i.e. name 5 teams) from the top 4 leagues in ScotlandI'll assume that Celtic doesn't count... Off the top of my head, I can only think of Dundee United, Kilmarnock and East Fife. Here are some of my favourite questions I've collected over the years: 1. Which player has won the English Premier League, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the European Championships and has also played in Manchester, Merseyside and several London derbies? 2. Which club's stadium is closest to the River Mersey? 3. Who is the only team in the English Football League whose name begins with 5 consonants? 4. Who are the only professional club in Britain with the letter 'J' in their name? 5. Which club's stadium is the highest above sea level? 6. Who is the only player to score in a Manchester, Merseyside and Glasgow derby? 7. Fill in the missing gap: 1979: Sunderland 1980: 1981: Villa That's all I can remember for now! Joe, I reckon you can reveal that USA one. And Midlands, we're waiting for your one mate!

The answer to my question is:...............................Henry Kisinger.
Fifa wanted to teach the U.S F.A a esson when they changed the offside line and when they decided to use penalties to decied drawn matches.

2. Which club's stadium is closest to the River Mersey? 3. Who is the only team in the English Football League whose name begins with 5 consonants? 5. Which club's stadium is the highest above sea level? The consonants one is a goodie. Cryst....... I think I've actually measured Stockport's proximity to the Mersey opposed to other more obvious candidates. WBA is always said to be the highest ground - but I've not seen proof. Oldham looks and feels the highest - especially on a cold day!

6. Who is the only player to score in a Manchester, Merseyside and Glasgow derby? After going through a mental list of countless players - mainly Scottish and Irish (plenty of whom could have scored in two of the three) - I suddenly thought of a player from a little further afield: Andrei Kanchelskis.
