When we went out of the FA cup against Coventry, we all felt so proud about our club and team, we out played a championship side and if we had taken only one of the many chances we created, we would have won the game. Going out off the FA Trophy sadly does give up any feelings of pride, If anything I feel embarrassed that the team lost by three goals today and real questions do need to be asked.
Now all we have to play for is promotion and lets be fair, it is what is most important to us anyway, unlike last season we will now not have all the cup games and too many fixtures to have to play in, so all the efforts must now go into league games.Just when Bucks looked like he had found his best starting eleven and a formation that while it needed fine tuning, was working. Now we see changes made for our last two games, that really have not produced any football that will be good enough to get us back up.
Its all still there to play for and the team must put today behind them and get their minds fully focused on the league now, the next five or six games will give us a clearer picture of what if anything we might expect from our season now. One thing we need to do is play with more than one striker and not expect Sills to get the goals on his own up front, get Green back in the team and keep him in the middle, use the wingers better and get them to get quality balls into the box and goals will come again.

Although it hurts today, can't but help think that having a single focus will help us in the long term. Will just to have to wait and see.

I would disagree that the changes made for the Lewes game failed to produce good enough football...............the football was fine and we won 2-0, and the 4-4-1-1 system has been successful enough in more than a few away victories this season with the absolute highlight being at Cambridge. Remember too, that two of the changes (Robertson for Hodges and Adams for Wroe) were forced on the manager, only Thompson for Green which was a direct result of accommodating 4-4-1-1- for 4-4-2 and I don't subscribe that this system is any way constructed to incorporate Sills as the only projected scorer of goals - much more likely to allow the likes of Dsane, Carlisle and the midfield players pushing forward chances to do just that. Like or lump it, we just have to be content with the manager making his selections and choice of formation based on the information he has of the opposition that we simply do not have. It's no good praising Buckle's professionalism in trekking around the country seeing teams for himself that sometimes are even being covered live on TV and then carping about him utilising that knowledge. One defeat in a cup game at a very successful and highly motivated Southport does not justify some of the knee jerk stuff appearing already.

I hate to say this but i'm pleased we're out of this competition. Now there is NO excuse or distraction to what is most important. Getting PROMOTION!!
Now there are no excuses. Buckle has nowhere to hide. He's signed no players during the transfer window........big mistake IMO. But he did the same last time and hasn't worked it out yet.
We have to win all our remaining home games to make up for his mistakes from early season. We have to win at least 7 of our remaining away games to secure a playoff position.
All i asked for at the start of this season was an average of 2 points per game. I would be happy with that in this shit league.

As expected the rest of the post is just the expected anti-Buckle rubbish we've become used to and the anti-BSP rubbish we've also got ready to expect. Come over and watch a few games - you might actually enjoy some of them. Much quicker post after the end of the game this time though - you must mean it even more than usual. BUT..... I offer no excuses for what sounded like an abject performance today and I do find it extremely annoying that Buckle continues to prefer Benyon to Green coming off the bench. What must the poor kid think to have played his best 76 minutes for the club (coming off 14 minutes too early IMO) and then play a total of about 14 minutes in the next two matches. And I'd have to question your maths as well. We need to win all our home games and 7 aways to get a sniff of a play-off spot do we? Do that and we'll win the bloody league!

I surmise that you are not a Paul Buckle fan !!
A bit over the top saying NO Excuse. Don't you realise that football is like life ..no guarantees and who ever is in charge and whatever players are signed there is never a guarantee of success.
The exception to that rule is that Man U will win everything !!
As your location is Thailand just how much of this shit league do you have a chance to see ??
Just curious !

ajaxgull for our Dave Shaw to call it a shit league, is an improvement on what he normally calls it and that is just a pub league. Dave Love's Bucks really and knows deep down he is the right man for the job.

Shit league? With the likes of Wrexham, Oxford, Cambridge, Mansfield and York City, all of whom have played at a higher level than we have ever done... This is no longer a league full of amateur footballers playing at modest grounds. Even many of the teams in this division who haven't played league football are good enough to make inroads in league 2, and have facilities to out-do many league sides... Personally I've enjoyed watching United these last two seasons as much as ever; we've always been a club of frustration, a great season followed by a let down, but now we can look to the future with optimism and whatever league we're in we should all be putting our commitment into the club as much as the board members, coaching staff and players have done. There will be off days for everybody, as we all have in our lives and jobs, but the true character is being able to bounce back with a smile and build on it... As a club that's what we did at the beginning of this season and all I can say to those supporters who don't come to Plainmoor but sit on the sidelines and condemn is you don't know what fun you're missing... Just enjoy the ride cos 18 months ago we nearly lost any chance of seeing our club in any league... ps, Dave Shaw, why the hell should Buckle want to hide?

I wonder if they get all this knee jerk, carping and "expert summarising drawn from a radio commentary" on the Kettering (lost at home to a Conference North side after their FA Cup heroics last week) and the Burton sites (lost 0-4 at Stevenage)? As the poster who accused the players of "not trying" today has not come back and answered the challenge I set them, I'll assume they too drew their assumptions from a radio? Pathetic really isn't it!

No probs Capital... I'm not normally one to shout out but those comments just don't add up from Mr Shaw... I've just realised that he doesn't even watch games being as he's abroad so how does he know what the team's like? What the atmosphere is like? How the players and supporters react to Buckle?

I am behind the manager 100% and will support the team at all the remaining home games (cannot get to many away games - don't think we've been to any away games this season) but feel concerned that playing the way we are at the moment we will struggle with the play offs.
IMO we are one striker off a great team.

He's signed no players during the transfer window........big mistake IMO. But he did the same last time and hasn't worked it out yet. The last time this poster made the accusation of signing nobody last January, Andy C took the trouble to list all the signings made. But I see that this poster still hasn't worked it out yet - despite having the real answer presented on a plate. One track ranters never have been any good at listening to facts.

"awful conditions, pitch not great" not an excuse by Bucks but a statement that the team failed to "dig in" and deal with those factors. It's rarely any different up on the North West Coast and let's hope the players learn their lesson as we're back up there again next week................... at Barrow! Lee, there are two distinct types amongst OUR club's support. People like you and I who appreciate the professionalism, commitment and ambition of the board and management and those who's agenda is to snipe and destroy - usually borne of a personal closeness to someone who's had their nose put out of joint or because they just cannot accept the running of the club in a different manner to how they would have it. People who assume that any player who isn't in the starting line up, anyone who might have had a disagreement or has not yet had their contract sorted for next season are dissidents and "want aways" are talking to the fairies as far as I'm concerned.................at least we are spared the "they don't want promotion up at Plainmoor" Johnnies at the moment - they'll come out of the woodwork when we get near the top of Football League 2!

I've just realised that he doesn't even watch games being as he's abroad so how does he know what the team's like? The last time I saw him at one of our games (Kiddie away last season) he was too busy getting the maximum amount of ale down his throat amongst a raucous crowd in the beer garden of the Railway Belle to be in a fit state to really take on board just what the team were like. Perhaps that what he means by "Pub League"
