Well not to sure if the title of this thread may be a bit to grand, I mean if you were being interviewed by ITV and were asked if you had a claim to fame and you said you once talked to Danny Stevens, you might get some funny looks.
Mind you there has have had some household names who have played for TUFC, Big Nev, Justin and Chris Waddle spring to mind, I'm sure there are others. So what is this thread about I hear you ask.Well its your chance to lay your claim to fame to all the members, put simply over all the years you have been a fan of TUFC who have you got to talk to, who played for the club.
Where did the conversation take place? at the ground? outside the ground? maybe in a supermarket. When did it happen and can you remember anything about what you talked about. Please list all the players or staff you have got to meet.

we used to play cards with hilly thats how we got to know him when me and alan first got together 9 years ago he took me with him to a pub in budleigh, To my shock horror kevin hill was there at the bar. I said to alan thats what's his name isnt it and he said hilly and i nearly fainted! lol i was in huge shock. Felt like he was a superstar or something like that lo Jimmy Agrey met him at a tiverton game walked on the pitch to find hilly and said to jimmy " your a big boy aernt you! " wanted the pitch to swallow me whole At the same game i met Roy Mcfarland for the first time a very nice and surprisingly talkative to the fans, we sat with him and his sidekick preece r.i.p and had a great conversation then we went to leave and he gave me a kiss on my cheek to alan's delight! Not going into much more detail as be on here for hours but i have met neville southall david graham matt hockley stuart jones paul gibbs rodney jack tim sills tarzan mansell benyon phillips effion williams ( great bloke) tully hall kuffour zebs to name a few that i still stay in touch with a few i could go on for hours but that is just a selection and loved and loving every minute of knowing them all xx ;D

Claim to fame, not many...
I used to have a short chat with Arjan van Heusden during my TUFC visits when he was playing for us. And every time I visited Plainmoor Mike Bateson made me feel very welcome and invited me over for a drink. A very friendly guy!

Many moons ago Geoff Hurst made an appearance in a sports shop in Torquay. I was a fan of West ham at the time so had to meet the chap. Lunch time bell rang so I legged it into town. Queued for what appeared to be ages on the pavement outside, rehearsing my opening lines and the long conversation that was to follow. Finally I was second in line, there he was sat behind a desk, our very own world cup hat trick hero. Suddenly it was my turn.... I stepped forward, before I knew it he had thrust a signed photo of himself wearing an England shirt in my hand and I was on my way and out the door in seconds. Can`t remember if I actually said anything, but I know I had to sprint up through town and market street to get back to Homelands before the bell rang again.
Oh what it is to mingle in the company of gods. ;D

I once met Reuben Hazell outside a nightclub in Torquay, after he'd moved to Chesterfield. We had a brief chat about the 2004 promotion team and squad. He told me that Alex Russell, Jason Fowler and David Graham were among the most talented players he'd played with, including his time at Villa, and that we (TUFC) were basically having a laugh with them at that level that season.
He said that Leroy did little other than act as mister motivator for a team that would've won promotion anyway that year thanks to those individuals. Not sure I'm convinced by that, and he certainly didn't imply that we won promotion inspite of Leroy, but his admiration for the others (especially Aggy) was clear.
Nice guy and very articulate.

I became a good friend of one of suppliers reps by the name of Dudley Tyler, Hereford (played in famous Newcastle game) and West Ham.
Gwyn Evans (our finance director) played rugby for Wales and the British Lions
Another supplier I speak to is Colin Deans, former scottish hooker

Had a flat in Hele, Newtake House, above Lee Canoville. a real nice lad and his mum and brother were good people as well.
My eldest two gave him a birthday card which he really appreciated and gave them his autograph.
Genuine lad and I wish him well

Well seeing that we have moved on to other claims to fame and I think its good that the thread has done so. I will add a few myself. Milkman of Larry Grayson, Sid Little(never liked him as a person, a bit nasty I felt) Max Bygraves.
When I was best milkman of GB, I was presented the award by Lisy Webb, I think she was some fitness person on the TV at the time.
One night in a hotel I could tell they would be up for a good Jethro routine I often did it as well as sing and play keyboards. One guy was killing himself with laughter and then it came to me who he was. Mind you he looked old and not too well and was on a coach trip holiday from Yorkshire. He used to be always on the TV show called the comedians, he had white hair, but the question is who was he? He told me he had never laughed so much in his life, made me feel good coming from a person who was once a household name.
