What is interesting is that nearly all the teams in the top five of the BSP are all near the top of the league for fair play, so is that making some sort of statement? Is it the case that apart from the skills on the pitch, that part of the reason the teams are near the top of the BSP, is because generally they have showed more discipline on the pitch.
Have these teams just tried to play the game more fairly? or is the case that teams who are lower down and have suffered more defeats, got more cards due to players frustrations out on the pitch. Maybe teams in control on the pitch and winning the game, simply do not foul as much as they have no need too.

Or the bigger teams are favoured by the refs!
