Anyone know why we signed him. He must have thought he was gonna get some games down here.
Just seems to be a total waste of a loan signing to me...unless I am missing something.

I think we were all expected him to go straight into the first team Jim, like I said on another thread, I can only think he has not showed enough in training, for Bucks to start him.You would think he would be good enough to make the bench and I do feel he may not be here much longer. Bristol said he was coming here to get games and get fully match fit, as it stands he would get that in Bristols reserves, as Bucks seems he does not want to play him.

Have to agree Jim It does not make sense to me. If you make a loan signing surely it must be to bring in someone who can make a difference and be a key player for the first team. Not to include him in the squad for the last 2 games is not doing either him or our budget any favours. Tonight has gone quite well for us in terms of other results but from my 2 reports on the phone tonight the performance was at best workmanlike. Not sure we have quite got the balance correct and loan signings have to be targetted to make us better. If the manager does not believe that Plummer makes us better then he may as well be returned.

I don't think the pitch they faced tonight is really a Plummer type of surface. I also think he can't be showing enough of the right stuff in training and judging by his prformance against Rushden in the Trophy, a little bit to much of the flashy stuff with no end product.
I have a feeling we have another Leslie Thompson here.
(Remember him?? on loan from Bolton last year, and sent back after about 3 games)

pikey the pitch may well not have been the sort that Plummer could do well on, but I don't think thoughts of the surface are the reasons he did not make the bench.
I feel more sorry for Mark Ellis and I did run a thread on him, after I got to chat with him some six or so weeks ago. Just what is his future here? I know he felt unhappy being kept out the side by a midfield player, I would say that Hodges has done a first class job as a defender and would be the fans choice for that spot now. Still Hodges was out tonight and I bet mark thought he would get the nod, but he did not even make the bench and the bench tonight did not have one defender on it.
When did we last have a team where some players never got games? mind you it might be down to having a larger squad, but I really believe Ellis will want to move on as soon as possible, young or old, players want to play some games during the season for the first team, the best Ellis can hope for is a game in the Devon bowl.

It sounds as though Plummer has returned to BCFC from capitalgull's post on the match thread.

It sounds as though Plummer has returned to BCFC from capitalgull's post on the match thread. Yes it seems he is gone and a shame we never got to see what he had to offer, still it sounds as if Bucks is after another player and I know most fans would hope its a striker, I wonder if he is now playing for Weymouth

So what the hell was the point of bringing him here in the first place?

Aussie - he had enough about him to have WENGER have him watched! To be fair to Bucks, Plummer showed that he has plenty of pace and trickery and he too a chance on him. It hasn’t worked-out this time, but how were we to know that - and more importantly, what was there to lose? If, as Capitalgull indicates, he has returned to Bristol City, we have other targets and we move-on. Perhaps in different circumstances it would have worked-out - Bucks and the club keep trying and the ratio to shrewd signings to 'duffers' remains comfortably in our favour to say the least!!!

So what the hell was the point of bringing him here in the first place? I don't really understand what you're getting upset about. Surely its better to get to know a player over the course of a few weeks rather than sign someone permanently who then turns out to be crap. I think it was a very sensible move from Buckle. Plummer probably thinks quite highly of himself after the attention from Wenger and would never had agreed to a pre loan trial, Bristol City might not have let him go out on loan if we hadn't showed some kind of committment. Buckle said at the start of the transfer window that he'll only bring in players who fit in with the existing squad. If Plummer had a billy big bollocks attitude a la Leslie Thompson then he's quite right to get rid of him. Besides there's only so much you can learn about a player from just from scouting and/or recommendations.

Chris I wasn`t getting upset about it just can`t understand why you would not have him watched more closely first, hope we weren`t paying his wages and if Buckle only gets players in that he thinks will fit in then I don`t think he would have had a Billy Big Bollocks attitude because Bucks tries to get players with the right mental goings on, he has shown in the past that frame of mind is very important to him so if Plummer was pacey, skillful and good in the head then the whole thing perplexes me! I do appologise if come across a bit stong verbally but I can`t help being Australian.

Someone has to be mate, although I can`t help feeling that sometimes people take me the wrong way (not saucey!) due to the fact I`m not that good at expressing what I mean via a key board, much better with the spoken word but then you get the accent to compensate so it`s really a lose lose situation unless you like the great Aussie accent!
