Well we did not win yesterday and missed out on the the 100 grand prize money, but if we had got that goal we so deserved, we would be playing Sunderland or Blackburn away in the next round. While not a Man U or Liverpool, it would have been a good draw for us and we would still have got a good pay day from the gate money.

Certainly on the TV, and dare I say it (if we had a decent striker)...Winnable!

Not sure if that's how it works Dave. Pretty sure if we had gone through, then we'd have been a different number to what Coventry were.

The number is allocated to the tie when it is drawn out. Which is why Man.Utd were number 2 as they were the second tie drawn in the previous round

As every draw is affected by the numbers allocated to the teams in it and those numbers are only allocated after final whistle of the first game (i.e. not replays) one can never say " we would have had this draw or that draw" As Coventry's number was a lot lower than our number would have been (and no doubt some clever person will work out just what ours would have been had we beaten the Sky Blues) there is just no point in beating one's self up over "what if or what not" - I didn't even bother to watch the draw and have only learned of it on here...................what was the point? The FA Cup has been great but it's over; move on.

Merse, we would have been number 12. It was determined before yesterday's game. I didn't watch the draw though for the obvious reason that we weren't in it!!!
Agree though - great as it was, there are other things to look forward to this season.

I'm fairly sure that the number is based on where in the draw the tie was drawn in the previous round. So as Everton v Liverpool was first out last time, whoever gets through would have been number 1 and so on. So, it would have been Mackems or Blackburn away

It was stated in the Herald last week that we would be number 12, and is indeed correct that it relates to the previous draw. I'm glad it wasn't exactly a plum tie Coventry got. We move on.

It's obvious, judging by the response; that I was posting on my understanding of the situation....................an understanding on the way things used to be done when the draw was "pre-TV" and such items as "who's what number" were not readily made apparent to the media in advance......................silly old bugger!
