Back in 1987, a young reporter at the Herald Express wrote about the day when Torquay United came "back from the brink" with a little help from a police dog called Bryn. 37 years later, is that young reporter poised to bring us "back from the brink" again? I hope nothing stops him.

Took a lot longer than I hoped but hope the answer to my question is yes. link - Richard Hughes has a fairly comprehensive interview in Devon Live with Michael Westcott giving some initial insights into how he sees the consortium running the club and resetting the relationship with fans.

link- 9 minute long interview with Michael Westcott as he continues to give further insight as to the thoughts and plans of the new board. (From 14:06) I suppose the two biggest revelations from his interview is that Neil Warnock will sit on the board as football advisor and that we are very close to having a new manager with an announcement hopefully to be made on Tuesday afternoon. Looks like we will have one of the, if not the biggest budget in the league and should be very competitive but up to the new manager, as to whether a full-time or part-time contract will be offered. Sounds like a hybrid model to me. There is a meeting with TUST on Monday ((not me) with a view to bringing them into the club as originally envisaged but due to the restricted timescales involved after the original preferred bidder didn’t proceed, not practical to be included. All in all, after a month of radio silence and 7 years or so of limited communication from the club with elements of the media having more interviews in the first 48 hours of the new stewardship than the entire reign of the old, hold onto your hat for a new era of more open and honest engagement with lots of news due out in the next week.

None of this is a surprise to those of us who have had the pleasure of working with Michael over the last couple of months, but great that the wider fanbase can now get to know what makes him tick. The start of a new era. I can actually look forward to going to Plainmoor next season now. Things will not be easy and lots of work to do but it feels like we have got our wonderful club back. There have been times when I doubted that would ever happen.

Sorry Rags - programme was still current when I did the link. 6 minutes and 20 seconds into the new link provided by Jon is where it starts.
