🔵🟡 Club Update
Torquay United Women have now begun the process of recruiting a new Team Manager.
The club would like to place on record that Manager Steve Elswood has resigned from his position as Team Manager at the club after Sundays defeat to Abingdon United.
During his 2 year tenure as Manager and spanning over 50 games along with his coaching team the yellows achieved their first ever County Cup title and League Championship success as he guided the club to the National League and Tier 4 for the first time in the clubs history.
Elswood with remain as Chairman & Director of the women’s team having made the decision to step down from his Team management post and will now start the search for his on field replacement with a job advert going out shortly for interested applicants.
Elswood in his new role as Chairman commented…
“It’s now time for a change within the team and it’s the right time for me to step completely aside from team affairs and recruit a new Manager to bring in a new voice and ideas. This is needed for the squad to ensure the end goal of staying in the National League is achieved. It’s the right decision for the squad and underlines my passion and importance of continuing our forward progress by ensuring I work closely to recruit a new Manager within the forthcoming period and give that new Manager all the support I can as chairman whilst we strive to have NL football again into next season.”
“Behind the scenes I will work with senior players & officials to ensure we make the right appointment as soon as we can albeit until the end of the season or beyond this into the 24-25 season”
“In our present NL Tier 4 level I am hopeful we can attract a higher calibre of applicant, it will also allow the successful candidate to fully focus on the team and developing his / her style of play”
The succesful applicant can bring in his or her own coaching team if desired or can work closely with the previous staff that worked with me if that is required.”
“This as we all knew was a huge step forward for us and this change now still allows us to continue to battle for our place in this tough division with plenty of games ahead to do so.”
The new Managers job advert will be posted on media platforms shortly for interested applicants to apply.
