56 years since the last time our first team played at Badgers Hill. United had no first team game on the Saturday before Christmas 1967, so Frank O'Farrell sent the first team to Frome for a friendly. This result was never reported in the ordinary Herald, but the good old Football Buff came up trumps. Frome held us for an hour but could not handle Sir Robin Stubbs as he banged in a hat trick in the last half hour. Billy Kitchener's first game after signing permanently (after a successful loan spell the previous season). Car trouble meant he nearly did not make it! Cornish farmer Johnny Brown (just released by Bristol Rovers) played half a season in our reserves but never made a competitive first team appearance.
