link - I know this has been posted by Jon elsewhere, but thought that this extraordinary and non-factual statement by the club deserved its own thread. The exercise at the fans forum last night was to listen to fans, something that the club manifestly refuses to do. It is not just Tust that have spent years trying but also other media organisations. The main feedback from the evening was this lack of communication from the club and another strongly worded memo about this just does not cut the mustard and the majority present wanted to protest about this situation. It was clearly emphasised that this could only be a passive protest and anything illegal was to be avoided. It was felt that this should be taken as soon as possible hence the next home game on a Saturday was mooted as a possible date.

Thought I’d pop my earlier twopenneth on here for now, Rob. Utterly scandalous lies posted on the club's website. A new low for the football club we all love. The club should retract this libel immediately and post an unreserved apology to Nick for this ridiculous misrepresentation of what was said. Seeing as the club obviously had spies watching proceedings, it would have been nice if they had actually listened to the universal discontent at the club's refusal to communicate with supporters and done something to improve things. Somebody is hoping to divide the fan base by spreading this nonsense. Let us hope he fails. Just read this having posted something not dissimilar elsewhere, Jon. Thanks for confirming what I expected having not been able to log in earlier owing to maximum Zoom capacity having been reached. When I read that club statement it really only took on one meaning for me, too, in terms of the type of supporter engagement it appeared to represent. Whilst I hope they take it down and apologise for any inference a reasonable and objective reader might consider from their statement, I’m not confident that will happen, Jon. It is saddening that a supporter doing a great deal on behalf of fellow supporters has to see his name put up on the official website of his beloved Club in the context of that statement. I look forward to TUST’s and others’ summaries of the meeting in due course.

Not surprising is it really? The first meaningful communication in years ends up with insults and allegations. Who actually wrote this shit? The club trying to portray a minority of potential TUST rioters wielding weapons and then praising the "loyal supporters" in the last sentences. Laughable.. I hope these unfounded allegations are exposed in the press. They must think were all thick, in fact I'm sure they think were all bloody thick to fall for this misinformation and club propaganda.
Couldn't get on ZOOM or attend unfortunately, I am trying hard to detach myself somewhat though I know that's an impossible task. I realised a good while ago where this was all heading. Respect to al those who still can be arsed to fight for the clubs future. But it's looking pretty bleak.

Oh dear, the club statement was an absolutely shocking overreaction. Was it written late at night by someone in a pub? The club needs to deffuse this and George should make himself available to supporters. Yes he might get some mild flak, but fans might be more supportive if he explained things from the owner's perspective.

Anyone recall the black clothed heavies that infiltrated the Popside and started assaulting and physically throwing supporters out of the ground? I recall these were disgusting and violent scenes and a low point that left a very bad taste.
I suspect a similar scenario will soon be upon us the way things are going.

I have never heard of this before, when did it happen? Sounds like something which could have occurred during the Webb incumbency.

My memory of the era or date is not clear Stewart but i think it was near the very end of Mike Bateson's time when things were going bad. It was an evening match.A heavy mob of what looked like ex criminal private security dressed on all black were placed amongst the crowd in the center of of the popside. Ugly scenes. They first provoked and then picked out the ones to forcebly eject in a very forceful and physical. manner.

The wonderful Torquay Talk continues to provide intelligently written interesting content. This is Matty's take on recent events: torquaytalk.com/2023/11/30/tt-blog-the-osborne-interview-by-matty-hayward/I particularly liked this bit - spot on : Do you accept that the club’s response to the fans’ forum, which made some absurd accusations which have since been disproven by TUST releasing the audio of the meeting, was out of order and embarrassing for the club? Would you, or whoever wrote it, like to apologise for that? I don't know Matty but I know his Dad. The kind of intelligent, assertive and challenging individual that a democratic organisation respects and values as a critical friend to keep them on their toes, whereas an autocratic control freak would see him as a troublemaker. Communication is not just issuing disrespectful edicts and "directives". It is also about listening.

So, after inviting questions the club have made a response and somewhat surprisingly it was in the form of a comprehensive video with Mr Osborne himself, his directors and manager. Haven’t yet had time to go beyond the first five minutes but what do you think?

I was surprised that some of the more challenging questions found their way through but Clarke Osborne’s rewriting of history was illuminating. It has to be remembered that he has never built a stadium but you would never have guessed considering how successful he considers his projects and where he hasn’t built a stadium (which is of course every single time) it’s always someone else’s fault. He stated how the organisations he bought “were on their knees” and it kind of exposed his Modus Operandi: a vulnerable sporting entity with property to exploit.
George Edwards was there of course, nodding in agreement with everything Clarke said like a faithful lapdog, or perhaps more like a Tory frontbencher who thinks those watching will buy the nonsense if someone is seen to nod enough.
Mel Hayman looked like she rather be anywhere else than on one of those uncomfortable looking chairs - almost wanted to say to her “blink twice if you need rescuing” as she surely doesn’t believe it.
Clarke and George are adamant that a new stadium will be built but couldn’t confirm it would be in Torbay, let alone Torquay. I guess we might assume it’s set to be built in Devon somewhere but considering their success with building stadiums it’s most likely to be built in the fantasy world that exists in their heads.
George’s favourite phrase seemed to be “One Club United” which is a funny one when he has been behind the moves that have made the relationship between supporters and club most toxic. Wonder how lying about the chair of TUST and issuing threats is “One Club United” and it seems you can only be considered a true fan if you get behind the club which of course means doing as George says and not questioning why property developers with a history of seeing sporting entities lose their stadiums without building a replacement might have their claws into our football club.
No consideration of the club’s heritage; no consideration of what Plainmoor means to its fanbase and no consideration of what supporters wishes might be.
Gaming International are property developers after all, although most property developers build things. Even if they do build something, I dread to think what it might look like considering the flat pack stadium they had in a locker somewhere in Wales. The feeling is any new stadium they build will be crap. But we all know they won’t build one anyway.
