...now 3 months later on the 6th April (Live on Sultanta) - surely the match would be better played earlier than that date? Agreed, but don't call me Shirley.

I suppose Setanta had an influence on this. I've not been able to check the fixtures of Burton and compare them with us, but I would have liked to have seen us play the game sooner - even if it's just to use a 'game in hand'and get level with the other teams who have played one less game. Perhaps the combinations of other re-scheduled games and potential cup / trophy replays rule that out - such is the downside of success!
I don't see us getting close to Burton, but to play a team that formidible twice in a few weeks is probably not to our advantage at that stage of the season. However, it might make it interesting if our recent form improves and theirs s pear-shaped!

On a mondaynight that is. That's 4 games before the end of the season. Maybe a match in which the Brewers could become champions of the BSP? Two days earlier we've got a home game against Kettering Town, surely that game will be put backwards otherwise it's two games in 3 days, just like Wrexham last week.

IF Burton win their games on Saturday (Altringham - H) and Monday (Barrow - H) they could be 24 points in front of us by 10.00pm Monday 26th January 2009.

How about the last game of the season against Burton being a title decider? it could happen and what a game that would be, it would be another sell out game at Plainmoor.

Could also be a match where they are ALREADY champions and let a few of the 'fringe' players get a game. They could also take their foot off the gas and therefore the win might be needed for us to get into the play offs. However, i dont believe any of that. Burton WILL slip up at some point. If we win both games over them and win our games in hand, theoretically we will be 6 points behind them, or 2 losses for them. So they have to lose 2 more games than us over a period of 18 games, feasible in my books. We are going up as Champions**, ironically by beating them last day of the season in front of 6300 at Plainmoor, making for a truly fantastic day. (and all ticket) ** I know i will get some flak for that but as i said in one of my posts earlier on in the season when things were not going well, "I believe". I still believe. I genuinely do. If we keep playing the football we are at the moment we are better than anybody in this league and over the course of the season the BEST team gets promoted, after all the best 2 teams last year got promoted.

While we remain in dreamland, what about the fixture pile up that will happen as we reach the FA cup semi finals ?

If we keep playing the football we are at the moment we are better than anybody in this league and over the course of the season the BEST team gets promoted, after all the best 2 teams last year got promoted. So the table does lie then! We are 18 points behind Burton. If we were leading the table by a similar distance, and i saw a fan of another team claiming to still be the best, i'd be inclined to chuckle. We've played some good football this season, but much like Aldershot last year, we can't try and convince ourselves that Burton's position is somehow 'fortunate'. I'd have been much happier if we'd got our game with them played on the original date. The sooner they lose a game the better, and tough as that game would have been, we're better placed then just about anyone to beat them. As it happened, the game got put back and their winning run continues. We certainly shouldn't be giving up hope at this stage, but Burton are top for a reason. Despite our own good form, the gap has only increased. I fear a 'blip' from them is unlikely - certainly one big enough to give us a realistic chance of the title.

Dreamland Dave, dreamland! It's gonna be a play-off v Kiddy or Wrexham then (hopefully) a final v Cambridge. Mystic Mog has spoken! One thing I have never been or have ever got called was a dreamer,I do sometimes day dream out on the road as I drive from one town to the next one I need to call on.Mind you those day dreams are always about me winning the lottery and how I'm going to spend the money. I would say I'm more a realist and while I set targets and goals in my life, I know I will always have a chance to achieve them, as I set what I believe I can achieve.I also will say I'm a winner, I never play for fun and never understand those that ask me to play anything just for fun. My view is that if the game ends up with a winner then I will try and make sure that is me,I have never seen the point of playing anything If I was not going to try and win. So when do I know I will not win and may have to except second place? well only when someone has crossed the winning line, until then I still have a chance, no matter how slim. You are in a school race in second place and one boy is miles ahead, what do you do, just except he is the winner? well I would not and I would keep putting everything still into my race, that boy may run out of steam, get the stitch, fall over and then I could run past him and cross the line in first place. No matter what the odds as long as no one has crossed that line there will still be the chance, that is how I treat everything in my life. You take Carol. I know the odds of her surviving have changed dramatically since the big c has come back, but while the odds are not on her side, together we will do our best to stay in the race, no one knows for sure if we really can win and as long as we still have any chance, no matter how small that might be,we won't quite and except not winning. Our team is still in the race, the odds of coming first are not so good now, but until Burton or any other club are crowned champions, then TUFC can still do it as far as I'm concerned.

And no I`m not going to go on about obese ladies orating chorus! No nerve was touched or harmed by any of the posts made on this thread aussie, It is just my way not to except second place until I have too and as we still could catch and over take Burton, I'll keep alive the hope that we will do it. If and when it ever became clear that we could only finish second at best, then that will be the time I settle for that second place and not a day before.
