2-1 up, top six in the table, Clarke Osborne calmly stroking his white Persian... Still plenty of time for it all to go horribly wrong.

As predicted, Lapslie does not last 90 minutes.
We now have a centre midfield of Jenkins Davies and McGavin. Lightweight.
I would have pushed Donnellan into midfield even if that meanypt Crowe at right back.
De Silva replaced Collins earlier.
Jarvis now badly cut. Stitch him up and send him back on???

Commentators noting how we are throwing players forward risking throwing the points away.
We get away with it. Three wins in a row.
Don’t they say Champions play badly and win?

Difficult to feel too happy or encouraged by this performance or result. Apparently Slough should have been well out of sight by half time and no doubt better teams will put the game to bed unless we improve drastically over the coming months. With a lack of depth and quality in the squad we continue to have to resort to MacGavin as a creator when he should already have been shipped out to the "slow" leagues. And an injured Lapslie to play most of the 90 minutes. In reality we are scraping results with an average squad. We are short of the three major players, Lawrence,Dawson and Nouble who changed things around at the end of last season and its showing in our performances a division below. Whoever Johnson can bring in to improve the quality and depth of squad will be crucial. No way will we be escaping this division with the squad as it stands.
I'm honestly struggling to get enthusiastic anymore one way or another, win or lose when I recall so many good sides and higher quality football over my many years of support.
Its gone for me at the moment with so many poor seasons behind me I've just gotten more cynical unfortunately and I like many others need to see some genuine improvement and quality on the pitch for that to change.

Interesting to note Nouble couldn't get into Yeovil's starting eleven this afternoon.

Good that Ash bagged a couple....strikers thrive on confidence.

Like you, I worry about the depth, quality and size of the squad. It’s all very well having a Jarvis or an Ash but without backups we are not going to be winning enough games as the season goes on to get out of this league. Although we hear GJ saying stuff like “we’re already over budget” and “we get anything we ask for”, the lack of financial transparency (or any transparency come to that) means that we will never know how much is being invested in the squad. GJ and AD have said that when the EFL transfer window closes there are players they have their eye on that they want to bring in on loan. Let’s hope they get the backing they need. The proof will be in the quality of the players that join in September.

I had a dream last night about this match (or maybe it was a nightmare) with the score 1:1 at halftime and 1:3 at full time…we shall see. 🔮 Shit, even in my dreams the team can’t get it right! I think it might have finally sunk in that GJ is going nowhere, indeed, if the rumours I have heard be true, he has already booked a plot in the cemetery next to Hele Village…very salubrious. If he is going nowhere and we can still grind out results with seemingly the crappiest team in Christendom, then that’s fine. Hopefully, some of the alleged players coming in next week will see an improvement in our performance…I wonder if any of them will be “Marquee Signings?”

If we are indeed “over-budget” then just what sort of budget do we have? The team is still attracting over 2000 home supporters at EFL prices so we should have a budget (along with Yeovil, I suppose) that is better than any team in this division. This the National League South for Christ’s sake so if this threadbare squad is the best we can cobble together for what must be a meagre budget then I’d suggest that the issue is Clarke Osborne more so than it is Gary Johnson and whilst GJ has signed some poor players just maybe he doesn’t have much in terms of choice.
There seems to be a contingent of fans who think the answer is changing the manager when in reality it is likely to make absolutely no difference while we have the shadow of Clarke Osborne lurking in the background.
