Decent 0–0 draw with both sides having a couple of chances with McGavin being the closest, very nearly scoring from a shot in the box that was just pushed wide. Very pleased with the game today considering that a) Newport are in the league above b) they are further advanced in their preparations due to kicking off a week earlier and c) a fair few of our players were playing for the first time and quite obviously were not fully fit. Surprisingly the Newport players did not seem quite at it in the first half and were aggrieved at a few strong tackles put in. Evans did a good job at left wing back filling in for Martin. Again the youngsters did well when they came on. Finally, special mention in dispatches for Halstead who did not put a foot wrong, making two very good saves and when called upon, collecting the ball cleanly on the few occasions required.
