On a positive note...hopefully we will be 3 points closer to play off spots on Monday.Less optimistically...it seems likely Little and CLE will attract attention from bigger clubs...like Wrexham for example. We are at home while a few of the others are away so potential to catch up there but still need to win ourselves.. Our win yesterday keep us in it as cannot afford to slip any further backwards. Worth keeping an eye on Chesterfield as well.

Almost a good day at the office, with only Grimsby spoiling it. Our near neighbours are revelling in glory again, whilst we as usual wallow in Dinosaurs shit! 🦕 Exeter nailed on for league one, and Plymouth with a very good chance of the Championship. Now that would have been a good bet, all three Devon teams going up…only to be spoilt by one team of course. Noticed that, may be an opportunity to pick up some players if any are released when promoted?

A classic example being when I was growing up, my only sibling was a sister who was a year older than me, so you can imagine all the problems…although I thought I looked quite fetching in my Turquoise dress! 👗

4-2-3-1 according to Radio Devon - which is how we finished the Notts County game. Johnson centre midfield and Lemon wide left. Both Torquaytalk and Torbay News had us as three at the back with Duke-McKenna right wing-back. NLP had us as 4-4-2 with Little wide left. As Rags said recently, formations are fluid and players don’t stay in one place. I only started listening to commentary late in the first half and the shape I quoted above was mentioned early in the second half. Did we change formation during the game as we did against County? I would be interested in the views of anyone who was there. I would say the current first teasers seem capable of switching roles during the match. It probably helps that confidence and self-belief are high at the moment.

I didn't pay much attention to the starting formation, but I do remember Duke playing in front of Wynter for most of the first half so can you have a wing-back in front of full back? I'm probably the wrong person to ask as I do sometimes wonder what the difference is between a full-back and a wing-back. Was Phil Sandercock a wing-back? Gary Neville once claimed he was a basic right-back who only got as far forward as he did because he played behind David Beckham. If you play a wide midfielder in a defensive role then he is surely a wing-back; if you play a defender in an advanced role then he is surely still a full-back. These days most full-backs have to be able to attack/overlap so that isn't as unusual as it was back in the 70s. I had a text from a mate at half-time suggesting that our 3-5-2 formation was clearly working. I was surprised as I hadn't noticed a three-man defence so I started paying closer attention in the second half. By then we were definitely playing four at the back with Asa Hall tucked in front of the back line along with Johnson. In fact, at times in the second half we were playing 4-6-0 as Woking piled the pressure on. I don't recall ever seeing Hall anywhere other than midfield, and Little was buzzing around all over the place, wide left, centre and wide right (the latter from where he broke for our goal). I would reluctantly suggest that 4-2-3-1 was our basic formation (although the midfield was squashed almost into a flat 5) and I would struggle to argue against a 4-4-2. CLE's position is difficult to define. From playing a number 10 last season, he has morphed into an attacking role playing off Wright but definitely much wider. I see him mostly as a wide-left player, yet he often pops up wide right. He nominally sits in a 5-man midfield but if anyone were to replace him we would assume them to be part of a 2-man attack. If we could get a second striker, CLE's role would be so much easier to pigeon-hole. Formations! Huh...
