Difficult to keep a manager after a 1-8 home defeat but Don O’Riordan was harshly treated. He was given very little in terms of resources to fashion a side. I think Mike Bateson did say his biggest regret was sacking Don and what followed under Eddie May was even worse despite May being given money to sign players like Watson and Baker.
