Was it not Roberts who did the deal with the sell on thing maybe he was not so bad after all ;D Dave Thomas has already tried this windup in the Herald - and has generated some decent responses on the their website including a corker from Hayden. www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/gulls/Did-Roberts-right/article-591957-detail/article.htmlThere is also a reply from Andy Parsons. He was one of the first members on here, but never posts any more. Does anyone know why?

Thanks for that Jon. Nearly had me joining in! Nice to see healthy respectful debate alive and well in this country. Oh lord no! More irony!
I agree with most of what Hayden says but Thomas, in my mind, was obviously shoving his tongue in his cheek just like Dartgull above. Nothing wrong with a little irony is there? I mean it's not as though it's the Spanish Inquisition?
Ah-ha! No-one expects the...!

According to the BBC site the deal is off as the player failed to agree personal terms.

According to the BBC site the deal is off as the player failed to agree personal terms. Barnsly have agreed a £400,000 fee with Chesterfield for Jamie Ward. That means we`ll get £100,000 from the deal which is great.

Wake up Joe - you've quoted the man saying the deal with Barnsley is OFF! And it's 25% of the profit so would be just over £75,000 IF a deal happens - sounds like it's doubtful at the moment if he is asking too much in wages.

To clear this one up, the Andy Parsons who posted on the HE website was a member on this forum, as Jon said one of the first ones. He was waiting for news about getting a job, it was at the post office I believe as he had an upside down post office badger as his avatar. It was going to be turned the right way he he got the job and I believe he did not get it. The last thread he started was about the beech party in Torquay that never happened, I had checked all the replies at the time, because a few days later he deleted his account on here. So if anyone does know him, ask him why? I just found it a bit strange at the time.

I drove Andy Parsons the comedian some months ago for the BBC, it was only when I later mentioned the fact to Capitalgull that I found out he was a Gulls fan! As for the "Preston" one, he always struck me as someone who had a few issues with the Football Club judging by his posting on the HE site......................perhaps he didn't get the type of response he was looking for on this forum and "took his ball home"

According to the BBC site the deal is off as the player failed to agree personal terms. I wonder why Barnsley made a statement when they did, I thought statements were put out when everything was agreed and the only clause often given, was that the transfer would depend on a medical. Sorting out a fee and the players demands must be done and sorted before you put a statement out, I really can't see any point putting one out unless everything is in the bag. Jamie must think he is worth more than he was offered and I'm sure he would have been looking for a good increase on what he is earning now. Unless there is any more talks, it seems we won't be getting that nice amount of money, well my mother always told me never to count your chickens before they hatch ;D

;D We all know Joe doesnt seem to be reading previous stuff at the mo!!! Sorry about that watcing Sky Sports and they said that Barnsly had agreed a deal of £400,000 for Jamie Ward, I didnt realise that the deal was off after that. Just been really tired recently and I will make a mental note to read all posts in future.

He often dropped in little pearls of insight without making a big deal of it. He seemed to mix happily on here, but I seem to recall that you used to attack him on dotnet, Merse, for his cynical take on things back in the days when you were still aggressively pro-Roberts or even pro-Walker.

Yes I found him OK to get on with on the forum, I will defend Merse here( making me sick ;D) but I can't remember any replies he made to Andy, as I say I was very surprised and was not in the know as to why.
