Well good luck to him, he does deserve to do the job at a higher level and I'm sure he will do well. The team will not fall down just because he has left, it might make them try even harder to win the league for him. They all know how far he has taken Burton and would want for him to see what he started, finished.
As I said before and I'm sure Bucks would say, we really only need to worry and concentrate on our games and make sure we can take all the points we can. What ever happens at Burton, we need to be in a position to cash in, should they start to get a few bad results, I don't think his leaving will have very much effect on the the Burton team, but all runs come to an end anyway.
It would happen if he stayed or not, but I'm sure if it happened soon then him leaving would be given as the reason by many and it may have had nothing to do with that.

It would happen if he stayed or not, but I'm sure if it happened soon then him leaving would be given as the reason by many and it may have had nothing to do with that. I think it'll depend on who they get in to replace Nigel Clough. If its a case of promoting someone from within the club then you would expect that they would continue with Clough's formation and tactics. If they go for an external candidate then they might have some issues initially. Each manager has his own style of play and thoughts on tactics. I would think that its inevitable that something will go wrong in the transitional process from one manager to another. If someone continues Clough's work then results might not change for a while but eventually when things take a turn for the worst they won't have the tactical or motivational nouse that Clough might have. It's sometimes, I think, easier for any manager to come in and change things around at the club where the team has been performing poorly. Look at Redknapp and what he's done for at Tottenham. I think its much harder for someone to come in and manage a side that has been doing well under another manager. Whoever does step in will find it difficult to try and emulate Clough's recent achievements.

Good luck to him at Derby, Ihope he does well for them.
He has the loyalty which is such a rarity in footbal nowadays and he puta 100% effot into everything he dose. He even named himself in the subs bench and as a player last season when they had an injury crises and got a draw with Man uNite din the FA Cup.

I would expect as it is a care taking role, that the Burton board would have said they want things to run just the same. He is a top man as we know and has his own style, but the results show that the way Burton has been run under Clough has been working and may at best only need a bit more fine tuning. Roy would know that to fiddle and change too much and risk results going the other way, that it would be seen that he had muck up all the good work Clough has done. It will be just more of the same, the style and formations will not change and Roy will just pick the team in the same way as it has been all season.

The way football often works is that the order in which events are announced are often in the reverse of the chronological order in which they happen. I have always maintained that a good club chairman always knows in theory who his "next manager" will be. Now in the case of Ben Robinson and Burton Albion, that "next manager" might have changed identity several times over the long tenure of Nigel Clough and also might have changed identity as the varying fortunes of the club under Clough have unfolded. When Capitalgull called me earlier today and we were discussing the possible Burton appointments, Roy Mac was named by him as"in the frame"and I concurred then that I had no doubt he was the type of guy they would have had lined up in advance as Cloughie's successor, as indeed he is the ideal sort to come in and put his experienced hand on the tiller as they attempt to bring their promotion boat in to dock. No doubt Robinson would have been establishing that Roy was indeed ready to step in BEFORE he ever gave Derby permission to approach Clough, so that the transition can be as seamless as possible. Good chairmanship, good stewardship of the club and good for all concerned! Roy lives nearby in Derby and will be well acquainted with the ways and wherefores of the Burton squad, the ambience (that is peculiar to every club) and the aspirations of the locals from the chairman down to the youngest fan.....................an excellent appointment, and I hope he guides them successfully home via the play offs with us as champions!

Great news that Clough has gone and great news it is Roy Mac replacing him because they are guaranteed boring 0-0 draws or poss scrape 1-0 wins with him in charge.
His record was not good for us, despite people twisting the facts. Leroy got us promoted and played football having taken over the majority of Roy's squad. He doesn't get the best of players.
i think Burton will regress and not play the expansive, attractive football they were used to under Clough - great!!

Stuart - do you mean he doesn't get the best OUT of players? If not, then does signing the likes of Alex Russell, Steve Woods, Jason Fowler and Reuben Hazell show a lack of quality? I know he signed a few shockers as well but he's not as bad as you make out. I'll be back with a portion of humble pie ready for me to eat if he fails to get them promoted one way or another though!!! Mmmmmm....pie!

He certainly signed some fantastic players but got very little out of them. His last season saw us finish 4th or 5th from bottom with only 50 odd points. Leroy took the same squad to ninth playing entertaining football, not dour rubbish. the following season, with a couple of additions (Craig Taylor) gots us promoted. People talk about Leroy failing in L1 but he got the same amount of points Roy Mac did in L2 He also tried to sack David Graham when he and Hanson and McNeil went drinking on New Years Eve prior to us getting beat 4-0 at home against Kidderminster but the astute Bateson stopped him (how right he proved to be - promotion and a big fat fee)

He did indeed take us to 4th from bottom in his season in charge. A TUFC failure. End of.
But I suspect he won't try to impose his negative nil-nil football on something which is already working well.
