So Lee Phillips has signed a contract with Weymouth tonight and how have they funded that? R&D paid us £17,500 for him and only got 13 appearances and two goals for that outlay! Presumably Stuart Beavon is the only player they have who could command a fee and presumably he has been "sold", now would that have been to us? We'll soon know!

I was in Weymouth this morning Merse and if they have paid a fee for Phillips, then they would have had to have sold one of their players. Batron talked about some money that was going to be put into the club, by the out going owner. I believe it was about 130k, but the word is he does not have it to put in.
It is also being said, that Weymouth will be part time next season, it is the only way they can survive, did it say how long Phillips contract was for? maybe it will end up a mix of some full time players and the rest part time.

Phillips has signed until the end of next season, apparently, which would take him to the end of the three years he originally agreed with Torquay.
In that case it's easy to speculate that he is on at least the salary he was on with us. That, if true, would be a fair whack for Weymouth so, yes, there must be money coming in from one of the two usual sources.

Its a shame that things did'nt work out for Phillips at Rushden. To be honest I kind of wish he had stayed with us but im sure things will go well for him back at Weymouth.
