Mick Buxton of course might have been the greatest manager we never had, other than one game against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup and then Eddie May was appointed instead.
In the Scunny picture are four people who managed Scunthorpe in Buxton, Bill Green, Graham Alexander and now local lad Neil Cox; they certainly have always been the sort of club who appoint managers with Scunthorpe links. Even the great Alan Knill was a former Scunthorpe player when they tempted him from Bury for an ill fated spell at Glanford Park.
